Hi,

Normally there are 2 different ways to check ink level on any HP printer

First one is :

IF your printer is HP Officejet 6500 Wireless AIO,

Press Setup button ( ranch like symbol ) on printer front panel
Use Arrow key ( left or right arrow ) till you find Tools option - Press OK
User Arrow key to find Ink Level or Ink Gauge - Press OK.
It should display the ink level.

If it does not display ink level through this method, it could be for many reasons like printer is not aligned or one of the cartridge is not recognized etc.

2nd method is from PC
Open HP Solution Center
Click on Settings
Click on Printer tool box
Click on Ink level

Regards,
Ron

I have a hp6500a plus, replaced ink cartrage with recycled one and am getting message that the following ink cartrages apear to be missing or damaged and they are not. what to do?

Hi,

  • Make sure the cartridges are placed correctly in the slot
  • Run a finger along the top of the cartridges. Press down on any cartridges that you find sticking up. They should snap down into place.
  • Make sure the carraige latch is close (see Fig 1)
FIG 1

  • Turn on the printer and check
  • If still wont work follow the next step
  • Take out the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts (seeFig2)
FIG 2
shreysri_19.jpg 1 = Ink Window
2 = Electrical Contacts
  • Wipe the electrical contacts with a dry swab or lint-free cloth
  • On the inside of the product, locate the electrical contacts on the printhead. The electrical contacts look like a set of four copper or gold-colored pins positioned to coincide with the electrical contacts on the cartridge (see Fig 3)

  • Wipe the electrical contacts with a dry swab or lint-free cloth
  • Put the cartridges back and check
If the issue still persist, you need to replace the Print Head (the carraige). We would suggest to use orignal cartridges and check once. It could be the recycled cartridges have gone bad.

Shrey

Suddenly won't print; had sat idle for few days;

Remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can also be poor ink cartridge contacts,

How do I check the ink level in the printer

Most printer will let you check the ink level using the Menu and it is sometimes under a category called Supplies or Ink Levels. If this is a laser printer you are working with Toner and its not exactly the same.

Can't find tool box to check ink level - HP 6310 using Vista 2007

doesnt matter most printers have a feature of their own to check ink levels.
press the setup button on the printer and scroll down(with the arrow buttons) till you get tools press ok and now scroll through until you get ink level and select it by pressing the ok button, walla you should have your ink levels in front of you.

Now about the hp solution centre/hp director icon on your desktop (if you have installed the software).
Click on settings and click on printer toolbox and now check your estimated ink levels it will show the ink levels of the printer cartridges.

How do you check ink levels

Introduction This describes how to check the estimated ink level in the cartridge. NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low ink levels, keep a replacement ink cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. Ink cartridges do not need to be replaced until print quality becomes unacceptable. Checking ink levels Perform the following steps to check the estimated ink levels: NOTE: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured print cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another printer, the ink level indicator will be inaccurate or unavailable.
  1. Open the Printer Toolbox . There are two ways to do this:
    • Click Start and select HP Solution Center . Select the Settings menu, then the Print Settings submenu, and finally the Printer Toolbox .
    • In your printing application, click File , click Print , and click Properties . Click the Services tab, then the Service This Device icon.
  2. The Printer Toolbox opens. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. A cartridge may be running out of ink even if the graphic shows ink remaining (see the note at the start of this section). Lines or streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink. Figure 1: Estimated ink levels
