You can't. Cassettes are analog and the USB only recognizes MP3. The USB will only record off a normal CD or a CD with MP3s on it. It won't record other formats. The unit only allows to record from CD to cassette or from CD to USB. There are some cassette decks that will convert to MP3. Just do a search for "cassette to MP3 converter"

You can use audio recorder like Leawo Music Recorder to help you record cassette to hard drive.

Step 1: Download and install this software on your computer.
Step 2: Plug a microphone to your computer, and insert the cassette to a tape drive.
Step 3: Launch the software and hit the play button in the top-left corner. At the same time, play the tape. Put microphone and tape drive closer.
Step 4: When it is finished, click the button again to stop recording.
Step 5: Generally, the recordings will be saved in This PC > Music > Leawo > Music Recorder. You can directly drag and drop it to your hard drive.

May be your could make use of a third party program to help you convert cassete to mp3 easily.
Step 1: Set audio source
To convert cassette tape to MP3 with Leawo Music Recorder, you should load the cassette tape into the recorder system first. Click the bottom-left "Audio Source" icon to set audio source you want to record. And there are two options for you to choose from: Record Computer Audio and Record Audio Input. In this case, you should choose the latter one – Record Audio Input.

Step 5. Edit music tags
Click the red button when you finish recording. When the recording process finishes, the recorded music files could be managed in the "Media" interface, where you can see the recording Library and Playlist. It plainly states on Page 24 that you can record from an Audio CD to a USB device. Nothing in there about analog sources.

How can I use my LG RC897T to record on to usb Flash drives ?

Record USB with LG RC897T

[email protected]
How can I use my LG RC897T to record on to usb Flash drives ?
LG RC897T I want to record onto USBs now. Which model of electronic item should I buy for the home?

To record on to a USB flash drive using an LG RC897T, you'll need to follow these steps:

Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the front of the LG RC897T.

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control and select "Recording" from the main menu.

Select "USB Recording" and then "Start" to begin recording. The recording will be saved on the USB flash drive.

As for purchasing an electronic item for home recording, there are several options available, such as digital voice recorders, video cameras, or even smartphones with recording capabilities. You could also consider purchasing an external audio capture device that can be connected to your RC897T to capture audio directly to your computer. It depends on the quality and format of the recording you're looking to make.

Need the manuel original lost or misplaced and can not find. want to record cassettes to cd's

Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW into the unit. Press the Function button on the remote (key above Vol+ on the bottom right of the remote) or the turntable itself (top left of the control panel) until the unit is in Phono mode. Then insert the pre-recorded cassette and press Play to advance the tape to where you wish to start recording. With the cassette playing, press the CD Record button (recording will flash on the display). The CD Record button is to the left of the fast reverse button on the unit; it is labeled Record on the remote and is below the Stop button. When one side of the cassette finishes playing, press Stop. Wait for the display to return to Phono. Then eject and turn over the cassette to play side 2 (if you want to record both sides of the tape). Press Play again to advance the tape and then press Record. When this side finishes, press Stop and then Finalize. Finalize is at the bottom left of the remote buttons and to the left of the stand by indicator on the turntable.

The manual is available at Crosley: http://www.crosleyradio.com/Product.aspx?pid=1790 . The direct link to the manual is http://www.crosleyradio.com/Manuals/CR248_Manual.pdf . Recording a cassette to CD is on page 11 (page 12 of the pdf).

I hope this helps.

Hi, When i try and record onto the machine it does not run, it sticks, tried new batteries but no difference, machine is about 2 years old, David.

If ther is no drive, even in fast forward or reverse, the the belt may have come off the motor pulley. Otherwise you may have a hair wrapped around the tiny drive cogs under the turntable.

Attempts to record onto cassette have failed.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, the reason for the 'Record' button will not "push down" is because the record tab of the the cassette has been removed. There are 2 of these tabs on both ends of the rear of the cassette tape. If they have been broken off, there would be 2 square holes. A workaround is to cover these holes with tape. Of course it is also possible that the metal tab pressing on these tabs are out of alignment (least likely).

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Dictaphone 2740

More than likely then the drive belt is broken or the motor is bad.
If you press the reset button the 88.8 flashing should go to 00.0.
If you are sure the tape is good, there is also a switch at the rear of the cassette compartment to detect if the record prevention tab is missing from the cassette itself. If the tab is in the cassette, the switch could be dirty or out of adjustment.
