That flashing is the part of the image that is overexposed. See camera manual. Meter off a neutral part of the image.

My Olympus x-42 doesn't take a picture. View from monitor is perfect but when I take a picture, all there is is a white screen

Some symptoms of a defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value.

Poor viewing quality

By poor color quality, do you mean that if you turn the color control all the way down, the black and white picture is more like black and red, green or blue - or do you have a good black and white image? If the B&W image is good, and the TV is an old (8+ years) one, maybe the mirror inside the set needs a good cleaning - especially if there are smokers in the room. If you have a B&W picture that is tinted, then you may have to go into a service menu to adjust it back to a better picture. Hard to guess the problem without more specific description of symptoms.

How do i change the picture on my camera from coloured to black and white ?

You can select the color mode to Black and white to shoot images in black and white. If you have already captured the images in color, you can use a software in computer to change the color mode to black and white.

Thanks for understanding.

Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

I have D80, in my display when viewing photo's any white colors are flashing from black to white. Any solutions?

You're seeing blown-out highlights. These are areas where you've irrevocably lost data due to overexposure. If too much of the picture is blown out, you may want to reduce exposure some and shoot again to preserve the data.

You can press up or down on the multiselector to change your view. The camera provides several different views of your images, including data, histogram, and, as you've discovered, highlights.

Lcd screen: lighter images flash from normal to

You are probably viewing the preview screen in "Highlight" mode. To fix this, use the dial button at the back of the D80 and click up (or down) to see another depiction of the preview screen. It will show you different options until you can see the normal picture without the flashing highlights. Hope this helps.

Pictures on the lcd screen and on the sd card are all purple?

images that are all black, white, or any other solid color or hue represent a problem with the camera imager. Just to be sure it is the imager and not the LCD, download the images onto your computer and view them. If they look the same as they did on your camera, it is time for a repair.

Printer doesn't print exact copy of picture should be in color.

Is the setting on the print driver set to color? If so, often times you can't print certain imaged from the web as you see them, It is copyright protection. So it may not be possible to reproduce is as seen.

Whitebalanc; red cast over pictures

Greetings...

The red or orange cast comes from a warm light source since you have the auto white blance off...

Got to your menu and turn the auto white blance back on and then try taking the same picture under the same lighting and see if that corrects your problem...

Nikon D40 - Flashing black on the light/white areas of inside & outside pics

It sounds as if you have changed the viewing setting so that the camera highlights over-exposed/highlight areas of the image.

While playing back images, press the multi-selector (4 way cursor) up or down to cycle through the various options.

This should be explained on page 51 of the cameras manual.

Hope this helps.

Matt.
