NEC Dterm80 phone, Model DTH-16D-2. We have an Extension that rings as a back-up to the main attendent/receptionist in the event she cannot answer an incoming call. I need to disable the incoming ring at the extension, leaving the extension to ring only when receiveing any internal intercom calls, or when any incoming calls are transferred to that extension by the receptionist /attendent or if any calls come in on the Direct Line of that extension; just NOT to ring as the receptionist phone rings on ALL incoming calls to the business.

I need the phone to continue to ring when its direct line is being used to contact him. I also need the ringer to work for any interoffice calls coming to him. I just need to know how to program or unprogram that particular extension to NOT ring when there is an incoming call for the businsess that always rings at the receptionist desk, but we have this one other extension enabled to ring as a backup person to answer the phone in the event the receptionist cannot do so. We no longer want this particular extension to be the back up person for company's incoming calls and need to DE-program it as back up.

My problem is a programming issue. Not a volume control setting on the phone. I need to keep the phone in its current working conditon, to ring when called on an internal line, to ring when called on the direct line to that office, etc. I just do not want it programmed as is the main attendant phone, to ring on ALL INCOMING calls to the business on our main phone number.

You can change these settings by logging into the phone's ip address from the computer that is connected to the same network.
You can also try to enter into the menu of the phone directly from the interface and look for these settings..

Hi if you just want to silence the actual unit, most often you will find a small switch on the unit, that switches OFF the ringer, or often one can turn it down, via a control on the unit. Other times one can set it Off or down in volume via the settings, use the manual in these case to ascertain what to do.

Above is a manual so you can check exactly what and how to do what you want.

If this cannot be done, then take the phones case OFF, locate the "Ringer" and disconnect it from the board, problem solved.

How to disable do not disturb on NEC Dterm80 phone?

Have a coworker call your extension to see if DND is on, they will go straight to voicemail or get a fast busy. Speaker 42 may be the default cancel DND code, depending on your system and whether the codes were changed. Anyway, ringing is set up in system programming. If someone calls your extension it will likely ring, but outside calls have to be assigned to ring in system programming. Usually need a tech to do the programming since it gets complicated very quickly.

Change the time on dth 16D-1

If this is an NEC Elite system, you must be on a phone with "attendant" features. By default they are on ports 1 and 2. Try and find an ext 10, 100, 1000 or something like that. Pressing Feature - 4 tells you what port the phone is.
