Not brewing

it sounds like the pump inside is bad, from either a clog or fuse perhaps.the pump sends the water thru so thats the likley problem.

How do I program my DeLonghi DCM 485?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

First you must set the clock. Page 6 of this pdf manual:

http://www.smallappliance.com/images/SmallAppliance/English/products/standard/DCM485.pdf

Then prgram per instructions at the bottom of page 6 and the top of page 7 of the same manual. I note step 2 is missing from the manual.....

3. Press the CLOCK button until the desired brewing time is displayed

(See "How to Set the Clock" section of the manual).

4. Press the ON/OFF button to confirm the automatic time selected.

NOTE: The display panel and the on/off indicator light will flash.

5. Press the PROGRAM button to return to the current time of day (the

ON/OFF button will continue to flash.) The brewing cycle will begin

once the set time is reached and the ON/OFF button stops flashing.

6. If you want to check the automatic time selected, press the

PROGRAM button.

7. To override the automatic brew function, press the ON/OFF button

and the coffee maker will start immediately. Press the ON/OFF
button again to switch the coffee maker off.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Stopped brewing

Tim, I do not have any pics of the fuse. If you follow the 2 wires that connect to the element upwards you will find it. It is covered with a heat resistant sheath. It is right next to the heating element. The fuse is maybe a half inch long with wires on each end. I believe mine was silver. Good luck, I hope this helps you. Mark.

Light is on but coffee won't brew.

Patti, you probably have a thermal fuse blown.

Display illuminates - but no display of time, etc.

My coffee maker is a Signature Classic and when I turn it on the light turns on but nothing happens. The water doesn't steam and the hot plate under my coffee pot doesn't heat up either, what's wrong I need my coffee?

Resetting........won't brew

Have you unplugged it? Sometimes unplugging and waiting a day or so resets the computer inside the unit.

Delonghi dcm 485 power on but will not brew

THANKS "Guest" - you just saved me $100 !
I had already bought a new coffee maker (Krups) when I came across your post.  The thermal fuses (there are two of them) are indeed hidden - they are right underneath the metal braces/clamps that push them against the heating element that they are meant to monitor.  If you take off these clamps and pull back the white insulation you can easily replace the fuse(s).  What you need is:
- volt meter
- needle-nose pliers
- Radio Shack thermal fuse 228C (catalog #270-1321) - these are rated at the same temperature and look fairly identical.  They cost $1.69 at your local Radio Shack
You do NOT need a soldering iron.  So: - take off the bottom of the coffee maker - take off the clamp(s) and pull back insulation. - put your volt meter on either side of the fuse and check for continuity.  In my case, one had no resistance (good) and the other had no connection (bad). - take your needle nose and pry open the clips on the end of the wires that connect to the bad fuse ... put in the new fuse (make sure the polarity matches ... just in case) and scrunch the clips together again - replace everything
In order to make this easy to do, I disconnected the water intake/outtake and also removed the two screws holding the whole heating assembly.  Made it a lot easier
