My laptop stopped picking up wifi after a much needed modification. I have a 3 year old hp pavilion dv9000. the hinges broke so I decided to remove the monitor of the laptop and hook it up to a desktop monitor. everything seemed okay when I turned it on but after my programs loases the computer wouldn't connect to my home router. is it because I disconnected my monitor? and is there a way to fix it?

That is because the WI-FI antenna wires were on the LCD panel behind the glass.

Currently your laptop base has no signal. The only solution is that you may pick up a signal with the base alone, if it is near the wireless router about 20' (3 meters).

How long is the battery on a HP Pavilion dv9000 supposed to last?

Laptop batteries will usually last from 1.5 to 5 hours, depending upon the demand, the battery and the use. Sound burns up a lot of juice as does the DVD player so if you're watching movies or playing games an hour is about right. You can purchase a better HP PAVILION DV9000 Battery with 12 cell , it will work longger.

HP Pavilion dv9000 screen lock jamming on the hinge. Is there a key for the nominal padock on the hinge?

I just started getting this problem myself. I'll let you know if I find a solution. For the time being, I'm pinching the joint with my fingers as hard as I can when I open or close it.

    I have a 3 year old hp pavilion dv9000. For 3

Quite often this is caused by someone changing the display type. There should be a function key control that allows you to view just your lcd display, an external display, or both. Try and change that setting and see if it will resolve your issue.

My hp pavillion dv9000's hinge broke. But I was able to use it after. Then I tried to close it..and it just shut off and it will not come on. I want to know what I can do to fi it

HP *had* issued service alert 08112101 which covers the left display hinge failure.
HP Notebook Left Display Hinge Program
    HP Pavilion Notebook
    model series affected: dv9000, dv9100, dv9200, dv9400.

This program recently ended on May 31, 2009, but HP may still allow for a grace period.

    Otherwise, you'll need the following:
Display panel back panel enclosure (single lamp) 432957-001
Display hinge kit (single lamp) 432963-001
LCD bezel w/ webcam (single lamp) 432955-001

Trained pro's should be able to do this in about 20mins, there is partial lower case disassembly and complete LCD housing dis/re-assembly.

Hp laptop pavilion acts like it's booting up but screen is blank?

May I ask what model it is?

The dv9000 model if you havent been told had some that had bad motherboards and that sounds like what mine problem was.

If its a dv9000 then you may want to talk to a HP agent about that.
