Cheapest steps first, getting more progressively expensive as the list progresses:
1) Upgrade the BIOS for the system, available at support.dell.com
2) Upgrade the chipset drivers to the latest version, same website.
3) Upgrade the wireless card drivers to the latest version, same website.
4) Re-set the wireless antennas. Usually you can access the WLAN mini-PCI card at the bottom of the systems. It will have two small wires connected to it, one white and one black wire.
5) Re-seat the wireless card. It's like a large RAM SO-DIMM chip, snap-in and out.
6) Perform a system restore (hopefully it doesn't come to that)
7) Re-install windows
More expensive:
8) Replace the WLAN card.
9) Replace the system board.
