Casio Privia PX3 88Key Portable Stage Piano Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 19, 2011

I've got a Casio Privia (PX-400R) keyboard and it seems that the pedal jack has gone out. It's the 3 pedal jack circuit board. I took the keyboard apart almost completely to take a closer look at the jack board, and couldn't see anything wrong with it. When I put it back together, the damper worked again. However, it seems to just work on and off, sometimes seeming to depend on the position of the 1/4" jack plug. Has anyone got any ideas or a schematic for this keyboard? I've gotten another pedal to eliminate the possibility of a wire/pedal issue, so I'm quite sure the problem is with the jack. Thanks! Kyle

The board with the jacks is labeled "m419 psb4 A no.2 - C7/A30c5". Upon close inspection there is no disturbed or missing solder connections either on the board or on the soldering connecting the wires to the main board. I have no clue what is causing this problem, but for the second time after opening the keyboard up and putting it back together after inspection, the sustain is working again. I expect this to be temporary success, and I'm being very careful not to disturb the input positioning of the pedal for now. Running out of ideas... :(

Hi genoness1,

If you noticed that the pedal works on and off depending on the jack plug positioning, it is because the jack is already broken loose from the solder on the board. If the pedal that you are using can normally open as most or normally closed like Roland types, you can still replace the loosed jack. Unit has to be opened and correct jack replaced.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi genoness1,

Does your pedal has a straight molded plug? As commonly happens with straight molded plugs, an electrical break occurs within the bent section, causing the pedal to fail or to work intermittently. You can replace it with a sturdy right angle plug. The right-angle plug is great for keyboard pedals. It keeps the cable wires from fraying and is less prone to broken or intermittent connection.

    Hope it helps.

    Thank you for using FixYa.

Casio Privia 410r Piano soft pedal problem

The Casio Privia 410r has two pedal jacks at the back. One is the sustain pedal, the other is the soft/sus jack. Please use the other jack if you want to use sustain pedal. Only 1 of the 2 jacks can be used.

However, if you have the optional sp30a pedal which plugs UNDER the piano instead, then only can you have 3 different piano pedals.

I Have a Casio Privia Digital Piano and a Roland DP-10 pedal. The pedal function is inverted. When I press it stops the sustain and the effect comes back when I release the pedal. The pedal does not have...

Yep... Roland pedals are reversed, that is, normally closed contacts. Unlike some Yamaha keyboards, the Casio doesn't have an inversion function available. You have two choices to solve this: 1. Buy a pedal with the corect sense 2. Open the Roland pedal and MAYBE with a soldering iron you can move a wire to select a contact with the opposite sense.

I've recently purchased a Roland foot pedal for my casio privia px-300 keyboard. When playing a note, even though the pedal is not pressed, the note sustains. When I press the foot pedal down, it cuts...

Sorry, but Roland uses the opposite sense switch. They use normally closed where Casio requires normally open contacts. SOMETIMES one can rewire the pedal internally, but you have to be mechanically and electrically inclined to do that.

Casio Privia PX-800: When using the sustain

Check if the cble frm the pedal MIGHT be flexing or pulling on the keyboard case when you use it. Such movement COULD vibrate the power connector causing your problem.

Make sure you have the right power supply for the unit as one with too large a hole for the power pin would be intermittent like this.

7 of the keys on the upper end of my privia px-100 don't work. All other keys work fine. Is there any way to fix this at home?

It may due to faulty circuit board of the keyboard. Check for warranty and ask the vendor to replace the keyboard.
