Question about Whirlpool 19.6 cu. ft. / 555 liter Upright Freezer EV205FXKQ
Repairs should be performed by a qualified technician. this is a manual defrost freezer. ice cream is a great indicator for a freezer problem. dairy ice cream will defrost before anything else. the thermostat might be satisfying itself during run cycle. if the frost pattern is incomplete then there may be a system malfunction. if so call a service technician. check your warranty for coverage information. also make sure your freezer door is sealing.

If you just purchased the freezer 3 weeks ago, I would be calling the store and or the manufacturer, and have them send out a service man to fix it or replace it.

Did the RCD tripping have anything to do with the freezer? You could have a faulty defrost heater, which means the freezer will not defrost at all.

JennyT just trying to help with this. I assume this is a self defrost model. If so then is there an ice build up on the back wall? If so then the unit isn't defrosting. That is why pushing the Fast Freeze button is no longer working. You can get by however. Remove all the food from the freezer, put a vacumn in the freezer and shut the door. Turn on the vacumn, this will pull the warm air thru the freezer and in 30 minutes to an hour it will be defrosted enough to work until you can get someone to replace the 1 of 3 parts that the defrost system uses. The vacumn is what I use to defrost my nonself defrosting freezer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Your compressor has shorted out. The compressor shouldnt be scorching hot just warm. And that humming you are hearing is the compressor trying to start but it is shorted. There is nothing you can do except for replace the compressor.(or the refrigerator)

Sounds like bad cold control. Replace it. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

the temperature control is bad. when you push the fast freeze it bypasses the thermostat for 12-24 hours depending on which model you have. I am not able to find any parts information with the model number provided but you should be able to find a temperature control at any local appliance parts house or online thru any reputable supplier. Hello grega1959 - If the temperature of food rises to an unsafe level, the buzzer will sound and the red light, if equipped, will also glow. First, deactivate the alarm to the unit. This can be done by either by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker. Wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on the freezer. After deactivating the alarm and the unit has run approximately four hours, the red light/alarm should go off on its own. If the red light/alarm continues to stay on, the freezer may possibly have a communication problem with the temperature control, control board, or a wiring harness. If this is the case, I would recommend connecting with a professional appliance tech for a clear-cut diagnosis.
