Those types of cameras are no more really used... it is good to get a just normal cannon or sony camera... and you will be able to do wonders

Strange, mine lasts a very very very long time, but in a standby state (power on, just close the lcd lid). Have you tried to just keep it in the standby state? I will never turn it off unless I need to, like to change sd cards, because it is super quick to capture video and it does not kill the battery.
I have 2 of these dual cameras and John is quite right, the Sanyo HD2000 is not a "normal" camera, its quite abnormally exceptional and way ahead of its time! Having a f1.8 lens, 1/2.5" cmos, 1080p @ 60 FRAMES/second, really makes it not "Normal". You will need a better computer to process the crazy 1080p/60fps images.
