Hello, I own a Honda Pressure Washer (Porter Cable Model) with a Cat pump 2600psi and 6.5 hp. An Excellent machine for the past 7 years. Last fall I noticed it was not producing the full pressure but still Engine was running strong. This past weekend. started it up and used it for about 1 hour still with minimal pressure at full throttle. Then pressure was totally cut off. I stopped and started the engine the engine and it had minimal pressure again. Same thing happened again. I stopped the engine, removed the spray hose and gun . I then turned on the water, garden hose still attached and noticed no water circulating through the machine. Looks like the pump is getting jammed or is seizing up. Any idea what this could be?

SOURCE: Oil leaking from pump

top is a breather you may be overfull of oil most pumps you can use engine oil .drain and put in half litre or if it has a sight glass top up to low side of glass and try it out.possible your seals on way out this usually then leaks at front or gets water in.if you still have good pressure oil seals easy to do.

SOURCE: Pressure Washer Pump and Engine Stops Suddenly

The pump might be binding against the motor, causing the pump to overheat and temporarilly "seize up" and shut the engine off.
After cooling down for a brief period (5~10 mins) the engine can usually be re-started, but the overheating problem will keep coming back.

This happens when the pump either wasn't seated against the engine properly during it's initial instalation, or the pump housing wasn't machined properly and the PTO shaft is trying to drive the pump at a slight angle = excessive friction = overheating.

Try this:
1) Loosen the bolts that mount the pump to the engine just enough so that the pump can be wiggled slightly.
2) With the engine power switch in the "OFF" position, slowly pull the recoil starter rope so that the engine / pump completes about two revolutions. This helps to align the pump surface with the engine.
3) Lightly snug the pump mounting bolts in a criss-cross pattern, then slowly pull the recoil starter rope again to ensure that the pump isn't binding.
4) Finish tightening the pump mounting bolts in the criss-cross pattern (approx. 21 foot pounds torque).

The entire process should take you roughly about 10 mins from start to finish.

If this doesn't remedy your problem, then try running the engine for 20 mins with the pump COMPLETELY removed so as to isolate the components.

SOURCE: Troy Bilt pressure washer model 020209 will not

A leaking gun will kill all the pressure. You may need to repair or replace the gun

Engine manual for the Porter Cable pcv 2250 pressure washer

If you need an engine manual, then look up the manual on the engine manufacturer's web site. eg Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Techumseh. Porter Cable manual would just have cart and pump info.

Trouble building pressure

I would check the reed valves in the pump. One of them may be broken.

Hot water coming out of a cold water pressure washer

This sounds like a heat transfer problem

You should check that the oil reservoir for the pump has oil in it. It sounds like it may be low. Also, if it is a gas model, the engine oil may be low.

Remember the pump oil reservoir should be only 1/3 to 1/2 full of non-detergent oil.

Losing pressure more and more often, especially

not quite sure where to get the parts, but if the pressure starts out ok and decreases as it runs, it is generally that the piston rings/seals are worn out, this can happen just from sitting up over the winter.

You can google Honda Pressure Washer Parts to find a supplier for the seals/rings

I HAVE A BRAND NEW TROY-BUILT 2600PSI pressure washer. I have used it twice for about 1/2 hour each time. It worked perfectly. I tried to use it today with everything hooked up perfectly. The Honda engine...

Sounds like the governor is stuck. My pressure washer speeds up when it has to pump. Don't know if yours uses vacuum to trigger governor or direct linkage. Good Luck.
