Hi

The smell usually comes when the washer is unable to drain water completely, you can run your washer at its hottest temperature setting with 1 cup of vinegar inside the unit. After this take off the bottom front panel and clean it completely, also clean the drain hose and drain pump filter, the smell should disappear after doing all this.

Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

My wash water smells bad. I leave the lid open between loads. When I do a wash it smells really bad.

Hi,

After extended use, your washing machine can develop odors from the water, soap, residue, etc. The easiest and first thing to try is washing machine cleaner. You add this to the washer and then run a wash cycle. The product comes with instructions. Depending on the condition of your washer, you may have to run the cleaner through more than once.

You can usually purchase a washing machine cleaning product form stores that carry laundry detergent.

LG fuzzy logic top loader leaves black marks on white. Happens when doing a large wash-eg; blanket -it looks awful. I'm thinking the insides might need cleaning? How is this done and with what product

If this is moldy looking you should use 1 cup of bleach in the drum with no clothes on the longest wash cycle with the hottest water. But I believe this is oil from the drive train and the seals on the bottom of the drum are going bad. When you wash something heavy like the blanket, it leaks.

How do I clean the machine after a really dirty load

Pour two cups of white vinegar into the empty machine. Set it for maximum water level and the hottest water settings and then run it for a full wash cycle. Once done it will be spotless and smell good. Repeat as often as necessary. Joe

The rubber round my washing machine door is black and smells

common problem with that style machine. Try running a cup of vinegar thru te wash cycle. The acid from the vinegar will break it down. It may take more than one cycle if its really bad. Once the smell is gone leave the door slightly ajar to prevent it from happenig again.

Dirty washing

Does your washer smell? Is your rubber door seal gungy too?

If so then use 1/2 cup of Washing Soda Crystals (50p for a 1kg bag from most supermarkets)
set washer to 60 degree wash and run machine for full hot cycle with no clothes in it... just the Washing Soda.
I did this with my washer which literally reeked, and my friends have since done theirs and the results are amazing...
Go and check your drain when you finish too... mine sparkles now and it was gunged up before.. I now add a desertspoon of Washing Soda to every wash.... I place it in the crease of the door seal and little by little all the mould is disappearing, even though the hot wash cleaned the gunge the black spots remained. My washer smells so clean now and no more black flecks on the clothes either... (these are loose gunge from the outer drum, right inside the works of your machine...)

All the best

Mold & Smelly in Washer

Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLC, is currently investigating defects and other problems in certain front-loading washing machines manufactured and/or sold by Whirlpool, Kenmore, and LG Electronics, including Kenmore Elite HE3 front load washers, Whirlpool Duet front load washers and LG Tromm, LG XL and other LG model front load washers, which result in the growth of mold/mildew in the machines and which can cause the staining of clothes and other problems.

On August 29, 2007, SFMS filed a Complaint against Sears Holding Corp. involving its Kenmore HE, HE2, HE3, HE4, HE5 and other front-loading automatic washers. If you own a front-loading washing machine that is manufactured by any of the above-mentioned companies and are experiencing the growth of mold/mildew in the machine, visit the following website: www.frontloadwasherclassaction.com

Bad Smell

this is caused by a build up of old detergent and limescale.there are some industrial strength descalers around.wpro descaler is one.add the sachet to the drum with no wash load.pour in a kettle of hot water(not boiling)and leave for thirty minutes.then put washing machine on a 60 degree cycle and allow to run right through.you will need to repeat approximately every three months
