All what you have to do in uninstall the network card driver from the computer .... for that you can do it by Restoring you computer to the backdate by computer restore option.
to restore you computer to back date you can type at your command prompt.( C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe ) it will open a program to restore you computer to back date in window XP.
Find another driver for your network adapter.. your current driver is not compatible on your Operating system.
Device Manager may list your network adapter as not working and as not having a driver installed.
click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down network adapters + expand Ethernet driver if you see a yellow ? ! question or exclamation mark or red x means you need to install/update driver right click to install driver
the driver could be on the motherboard disk or the one supplied by your ISP internet service supplier or you might need to download it
