Samsung ua46c8000 tv ir/sensor dose not work - Samsung Bn59-01041a Remote Control

This is a common problem with 3-year-old + Samsung 50-65 inch TV's. This advice is given with the pretext that you know how to be safe and use tools.
Locate the IR sensor on the front of the TV. Remove the stand and place it face down on a carpet. Be prepared to be able to leave it there for a few days as your replacement needs to ship. Remove all the screws from the rear panel to locate the IR or touch function/IR combo board. Carefully remove the board, get the board number that is located on the side you can not see without removing it. Replace it with a new one. $30 max. Put it back together and you can control your TV again.

The missing power button you have on the bottom of your TV is just a manual On and Off switch in case your remote does not work, it has nothing to do with the remote signals at all. Most TV's have a tiny little window or sensor in the front panel which recieves the IR signal from your remote, most IR recievers on TV's have a dark red little window as the sensor.

This board can be located at the front panel of the TV. You have to open the TV, to take it out. The infrared sensor can be located just behind the infrared window, whci can be located at the front panel of the TV. The sensor will look somewhat like this.

The failure to IR sensor inside the TV is a very rare case. Check the infrared emission to the remote control first. Check it with fresh batteries. I had the same issue. I ended up replacing the main board. Part number BN-94-02821B

Sounds like problem is with TV. Make sure the remote sensor on the TV is not blocked, it is located at the lower right part of the front of the TV.

Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera’s Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera’s screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.
