What I would suggest is reseating the airport card as it may be the card has come loose or the cable is not connected properly. The following support page on the apple website will tell you how to do it.

Failing that you will probably have to buy an new airport card or a wireless usb adaptor. You should be able to pick one up from ebay fairly cheaply.

Hope this helps.

I have an old PowerBook g4 in my kitchen for listening to pandora and looking up recipes. All of a sudden, the wifi stopped working. It has dropped out a few times before, but I have always been able to...

Cut the airport off and back on again. After that, delete any wifi profiles you have, and then re-add them. This will clear any corrupt profiles and troubleshoot that. If you can't connect to anything after that, check that the airport card is connected securely. If, after all that, it still isn't working, and other devices are able to connect to the same network, then your airport card is probably no longer working.

OSX has become unreliable.
You could spend hours troubleshooting, or simply backup and re-install from disks, takes about 40 mins

You could try changing the security. Some of the older laptops have trouble with the new WPA2 security. Use WEP and you should be OK if this is the problem. Good luck TT

Display won't turn back on

You may need to open it up again and remove first the airport card and turn it back on and if that boot your computer there's a possibility that your airport is causing the problem and the airport may be loose and touching some other parts on it.

Hope that helps...........

Airport hardware is not recognized

I say it'd be more likely that the airport card shifted in the socket. I could be wrong but take a look. I'm not sure if it's true on the 12" models, but on all the others, there is a cover in the battery compartment that hides the airport. Take it out and put it back in. My 17" powerbook took a 4ft drop to the asphalt late last year and it came out with only a few small scratches. You might also try swapping the airport card with another one just to verify if the slot is good.

Wireless Modem don"t connect

well imac G4's don't  have built in airport (wireless internet) included as usual with apple its another item you must buy an airport extreme card  then hook it up to an airport base station another item to buy via wireless internet then hook you airport extreme base station up to your modem via ethernet. whew ok now sync the airport base station to your imac using airport set up application then select your network and type your WEP password and viol internet in about 1 hour if your lucky hope this helped my fingers hurt now LOL.

Apple Powerbook G4 17in 1.33Ghz. Tiger OS. Airport problem.

I had a similar problem with my 15" 1.33GHz powerbook G4.
My problem was I couldn't connect to a network right away or at all, or wouldn't properly reconize the card (didn't drop it).

I solved it by removing the airport card from my PowerBook and putting it back into my G4. it should be in the same location.
it's underneath the battery pack.
1. power off your G4
2. remove battery pack
3. there is a latch on the right side (if the charger port is facing down), open it
4. pull back plastic cover tab and gently remove the antenna plug from the airport.
5. pull the plastic tab, until the airport card is removed, keep out for 30+ seconds to ensure it erases any corrupt log file on card it's self.
6 place airport card into the slot again, fully inserting it, it should go 1/8" - 1/4" into your powerbook
7. plug in the antenna plug back into your G4's airport(it should click 2x(very lightly)), flip plastic tab back over top the antenna cord, close you latch.
8. place battery back into your G4
9. plug computer in, turn on and it should work
if not then there is something wrong with the airport card reader, which i don't think it's the case here..
