if you don't have the remote, you can use the channel and volume controls navigate you thru the menu. if all of your settings are to the left. then yes you will have no color and a dim picture, if any

It's probably a station channel, channels broadcast different picture and sound quality, therefore when changing channels this can be noticable. It is probably not a tv problem.

There is no details about the factory reset of your tV in its user manual. But intvidual reset for picture, sound etc can be selected and can be reset to factory reset.

Try (with your remote) hit Display + Channel 5 + Volume - + Power hit each key within 1 sec of each other and the tv should go into error check mode on the screen and display some data, record that and google.

More information is required. Your backlight is lit (screen not dark) but I need to know what you have connected to the TV (your sources) and how they are connected. Does the menu/OSD (on screen display) work?

You will ned to have your Tv looked at by a repair shop there seems to be a problem with the small singal board.

Check the video output amplifier stage for failure
Display dead rest of functions ok
Change transistor Q1701 on Timer operation board

If when you press the volume or channel up or down button you get no OSD, that's is no channel number or volume up bars, have some one check the set for either a defective video out IC or a defective picture tube, or a bad cap in the power supply. Set should be serviced by a TV repair person.
