Power Off/On Fatal Error : 917

During printig a paper half-way, the display panel showed (Power Off/On Fatal Error: 917). I have tried to check the back boards but to no avail. What does the code mean and any possible solutions?

The 917 fatal error is a belt **** se sensor error. This could be caused by the belt not installed correctly or the belt at the end of its life, or the belt being torn. Please power the printer off and then reseat the transfer belt and then power the printer back on. If the error remains then I will need you to check the life remaining on the transfer belt. Also make sure the transfer belt is not torn.

917 relates to the transfer belt.
lift out the drums, and check the belt, it may be torn, ..
if not remove it and reload it, making sure the blue tabs lock right down securely...
your belt life may have expired...good luck

My machine ricoh aficio keeps on showing error code sc 556 and it cant print but keeps on telling me paper out

1) If the printer continuously displays the error code SC556, try these solutions to resolve the issue. Check if resetting the printer resolves the problem.

2) Power on the printer by pressing the Power button and then unplug the power cord from the printer's rear. The power cord should be unplugged from the wall outlet and wait for at least 15 minutes.

3) Connect the power cord back to the printer and the wall outlet and check if the printer turns on. If not, press the Power button on the printer.

4) See if the printer still displays the error message on the control panel screen. Try to reload the paper and check the condition of the paper.

5) Try to adjust the paper settings in the print driver and see if the issue is resolved.

I have a IBM 9068 Model S01,it is sometimes showing error code 18.If I tilt up the printer assembly during the printer power on it is ok.If I tilt down the printer assembly meaning to it's original...

Error 18 is a "Paper Edge Search Error".

1. Check document for damage and check it meets specs.
2. Check that Ribbon Cartridge is installed correctly.
3. Do "Form-Edge Sensor Service Check"
4. Do "Platen" adjustment.

Sensor Status Display:

1
. Start Self-Test (press and hold Start 1 on panel: then turn on printer. Keep holding button until at least "00" is displayed.
2. Use a magnet to override cover closed/open sensor to the left of the Start1 button in the indent.
3. Press Reject Off button until "4" is displayed.
4. Press Start1 button to shift to next digit.
5. Press Reject Off to display "4"
6. Display should now read "44"
7. Press Start2 button. The LED display indicates sensor status'
8. You will see changes with inserting paper or removing paper.

FORM-EDGE SERVICE CHECK:
Perform sensor status display as stated above. The sensor is located on the print head carriage on the left side.

1. The upper right vertical segment of the left LED digit is assigned to the form-edge sensor for Command "44"
With no paper the LED segment is unlit.
2. Check the sensor by inserting paper. Move the print carrier to the right to access the sensor mounted on the print carrier.
If the LED segment becomes lit when you insert the paper, and becomes unlit when you remove the paper, sensor is OK.
3. If the sensor does not work, check that the sensor cable is connected correctly. If the cable is okay, replace the following one at a time:
a. Form Edge Sensor -46H2648
b. Form Edge Sensor Cable -46H2730
c. Main Card -
1.46H2632 - Serial Interface
2.46H2634 - Parallel Interface

The display is showing Service Call 132:Fatal

I solved this problem easily (Once I found it!)..open lid, locate where the top section bright metal lugs contact with copper leaf contacts at the front of the base unit and clean them with some fine emery paper or gently with small flat screwdriver... mine had a bit of toner dust and a tiny carbon deposit which was preventing the circuit being made. This showed the fatal error 132 and you may notice on start up that the normal rotation noises within the machine were silent too. Worked for me. Problem arose after Xmas break when machine had been stood for a few weeks. Good Luck! Bryan at Pinewood Studio Manchester.

Fatal error 917 on an Oki C9600 printer. What does this mean and how can I resolve the problem. Many thanks James

A fatal error 917 means there is a problem regarding the belt **** sensor.

Usually it means the printer can't see the transfer belt rotating.

First thing to try is to remove and re install the transfer belt, if that does not work you should replace the transfer belt.
