I have a 13 inch KLH TV/DVD combo. I bought an original KLH digital controller so I can find the code, but it didn't come with the instruction manual for the codes. How do I find the code for the TV?

If you wish to buy its original remote control, you have to contact the authorized service center. If you wish to buy a universal remote control, you should know about, which brand remote control have setup code to your TV/device brand. You should first make sure about the number of digits in the codes to your device have. There are 3-digit, 4-digit, 5-digit and even 2-digit codes. With a universal remote control, we can't get allthe functions do work as its orginal one. You have to check other codes for Apex, described in its user manual. Check other codes, and see which one will do best to get most functions with the TV. OK.

what make is your tv u still got insurance on it

as it a learning feature if so perhaps it could learn from the original controller. i have had universal controllers in the past that are rubbish and certain makes/models can't be controlled...

You may find that these don't work. Often, with combination pieces like yours, you will find you are lucky if you can get a universal remote to turn it on and change the volume and little more. The fact that Toshiba did not build this peice can compound the problem. My suggestion, if you can't get the universal to program up, is to use the original remote for the set. If you do not have the original remote it is available from www.encompassparts.com for around $15.00 plus shipping. The original part number for the Toshiba remote is 72796929.

I used a GE Universal remote. The package has number 24921 and the instruction manual says it's a RM24912. Anyway, this model will control pretty much all aspects of this tv combo assuming we are talking about the KLH KDT133UY tv/dvd.

What you need to do is program the tv button on the remote to code 0029 which is a KONKA code. The real maker of KLH electronics. Then set the dvd/vcr button to code 0905. Now in order to access the tv menu, press the tv button then press the shift button which is the setup button. Then press the INFO button for menu. SHIFT, MENU, OK, and EXIT are printed with a black backgroung on the remote. Hince you need to press shift.
