If it is the factory fitted radio then all you have to do is ring honda dealership and give them the vin number of the car and they will give you the code for the radio.

SOURCE: please after changing the battery of my VOLVO v40

This is a anti-theft device built into your radio designed to foil robbers. When the radio looses power, the radio locks up. This makes the radio worthless on the black market. The thieves know this and don't steal it as a result. Your owners manual tells you to clear the code if there will be a power loss (changing the battery). There may not be a recovery procedure.

In the GM (1995) version of this system, there is no recovery (if there were, what would be the point of the system?). I don't know the specifics of the Volvo system. You may want to talk to your dealer before you replace your radio. I am sure you will have to prove ownership of the vehicle.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com this morning.

DISCONNECTING YOUR BATTERY without losing the RADIO CODE

I constantly read frequent requests for RADIO CODES referring to the disconnection of battery power ( whether its for changing the battery, etc.) and the radio is now INOP. Here is a simple way to save radio codes, radio stations, clock time and computer settings. Purchase from an auto parts dealer, a 9 volt battery powered lighter socket connector. Plug into lighter, do your battery work, After work is completed, disconnect, and radio will work as before. Unit will cost less than 20.00 and well worth it.

Radio/clock not working. Message says "Code"

You need enter the THEFT SECURITY CODE... recently unplugged the battery or change the car radio? When this occur, the LOCK CODE is request by the audio system. Can find it in the bakc side radio (need take off) or visit your dealer with ths VIN and Serial number to obtain this information (sometimes need to pay for this).

Good luck.

How do I find out the radio code for a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant? I had to change the battery and now need to reset.

Hi,

If it was factory fitted (installed at time of first registration), then you will need to refer your request back to your local Mitsubishi Parts Dept., who will have your radio code on their database. You will need to prove you are the owner of this vehicle.

If it is aftermarket, then you need to track down the previous owner/supplier for the code.

Cheers,

Radio needs a code but i dont know it

It sounds like you stereo did not retain it's memory during the battery change. Unless you have the code, or the serial number written down somewhere, you will have to remove the stereo and get the serial number off the unit to request a new one.

Radio problem

The 1997 960's came from the factory with a 4 digit radio code on a card in the glove box. If the card is lost, the Volvo dealer should be willing to look it up for you if you show the parts guy the registration. If the radio has been changed, you may be out of luck unless the person who swapped radios wrote the code on the outside of the case.

Do hold onto the radio code once you have it. Every time the battery is disconnected to do work on the car, the code will need to be reentered.
