My Brother HL 5240 has Status toner, drum and paper lights on, I bought it on 4/30/08, new toner, plenty of paper, it showed on computer: printer is off line, but it was connected with computer. Really appreciate if we can get it fixed.
The drum light will flash on my brother HL-5240 Laser Printer when printing but it continues to print just fine. Does this mean the drum needs to be replaced? red light means in drum side or toner is not inserting properly...may be that issue...or you clean the inside printer ..after that insert a drum and toner ....check it ....try it...
It may some paper jam inside your printer . open the front cover pull out the cartridge and look any jammed paper is there or not. if not the the problem may came from your toner drum.
Out with the old and in with the new, you remove the toner and drum together, remove the toner from the old drum by pressing the blue lever on the side, install the toner in the new drum, and re install in the printer. With the front door open press the go button til all lights flash and then close the door, the new drum is reset.
My HL-5240 did the same thing, Here is what I found:
Look at the back of the printer. Pull down the back cover. Look to the right and the left of the exposed internals of the printer and there should be another handle/knob you can pull down. Pull these both down simultaneously and check to make sure there isn't a piece of paper in there! This was a shock to me! My office printer was held up for days until I found this hidden door in the back! I felt like an idiot that it was from a stupid paper jam!
1) Turn off printer
2)Turn back on
3) Remove Drum and Toner.
4)Press Go for 1 second(it appears to do nothing)
5)Put Drum and Toner back in.
6)Press Go for 1 second(it appears to do nothing)
7)Close door.
Try that
This works on several different Brother Printers to get rid of toner/drum empty errors:
1. Open the front cover and leave open while completing the following
steps. 2. Turn the printer off. 3. Hold the 'go' button while
turning the printer on. All panel lights should be on. 4. Release the
'go' button. 5. Press the 'go' button 2 times. 6. Pause. 7.
Press the 'go' button 5 times. 8. The toner light should be off. 9.
The paper light should be on or flashing [doesn't happen on all]. 10. Close cover. The ready
light should be the only light on.
