Even though my charge is full my player will play for a little while then go off. i can not get it to come back on for days afterwards then it will just suddenly pop on. my husband got it for me as a gift and it breaks my heart to think that something has happened to it. when i plug it into the computer when it does this it will come on and play, it will not say connected and as soon as i unplug it, it will go back off.

Try reinstalling the drivers for your mp3 player. Or maybe updating them here is a link to recent drivers to your player http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=NWE107&UpdateType=Updates

SOURCE: Wont Charge

Yeah, I had this problem too because I was connecting the USB proprietory connector/cable at the front USB drives on the computer. If you have been using front USB connecters, try using the back USB drive connecters.

It worked for me :)

SOURCE: Battery won't charge.

I just figured out the problem I had just like yours. I have three different sony MP3's and thought all the usb cables were the same. Well after changing out the usb cable my 438f started charging. I was using the cable from my s615f and the same is true if I use the 438 cable on the 615-full battery instantly. Also sony does not replace these batteries. If in warranty from purchase date, they will exchange with "like product" for $29, or repair yours for $77. Both prices include return shipping. http//eservice.sony.com

Ipod Touch Battery

Your battery is fu.k.d up.  This thing ships with half a charge and your supposed to fully charge it before first using it.  Even though every genius out there will say that these batteries don't retain memory charge.  They are wrong.  You have set your battery memory to say full when it is only 1/4 fully charged.  Take the thing back to the store and exchange it for a new one if your within your 30 day window.  Take the thing back to the Apple store and exchange it out for a shiny new one if your within your 1 year window.  You don't need a receipt at the Apple store, cause they can just look on the back of the ipod and type in the serial #.  That tells them if the ipod was sold within the year or not.  Apple won't exchange the thing out if you dropped it hard or exposed the thing to liquids.

Not charging? :(

Here are the possible cause of the problem.

1. Bad battery
2. Loose wire connection
3. Firmware or program

The fact that "the battery shows full even though its not", I could say that the problem has something to do with the electrical wiring (could be the battery or loose wire).

If you're planning to reformat the device, I would suggest to contact the manufacturer. Because once you reformat it, the default program would be erased.

Have a great day!

I KNOW I can charge my MP3 player and listen to it at the same time, but I don't know how.

Disabled it under device manager! So that it still draws power from the USB port without attempting to pair with the computer.

I am havin a major problem

Here is a more detailed way to do this. I have the same problem with this. Mine just seems to last last longer with the charging though.

  1. Plug it into your computer's usb port.
  2. Wait until your computer recognizes the device. When you hear it make a sound after the device is plugged in, you turn the switch to the "ON" position and just leave it there.
  3. Every now and then, shut it off and unplug it, and then repeat steps 1 and 2. I have found that after a while, the device stops charging on its own (which drains the battery without you knowing it) and then when you go to use it, you can't because of a dead battery even though it was plugged in. Like I said, the best way to get around this problem is to unplug the and then plug it back in every 30 mins or so to keep it charging. A good way to know if your MP3 player is still connected and charging is to add tracks to it. If the download bar stops moving forward, then that means your device is no longer connected and charging. It also means that you will have to replace the file that you tried to put in the player.

1/3 screen is blank and loose power jack

The LCD needs to be replaced. As for the D/C Jack its the sort of laptop an engineer would have to play by ear. Or in otherwords work it out as they go along. Try removing all of the screws that you can find and be careful that you know where the screws go back afterwards. You might need to flick the hinge covers off to access the rest of the laptop. They also tend to have plastic clips all around them.

HDD read error

I had the same problem with my mp3 player. The problem seems to be that the charge had been depleted - even though the screen said the charging was complete when I plugged it in. Disregard the screen, charge your machine for two hours, and if your player is like mine, it will be functioning properly afterwards. Hope that helps.
