Hello Bassett,
If there is no problem in your Kindle then you have to contact the local cellular operator.
They will solve the 3G connectivity problem you are facing.
1. No WiFi on Kindle DX - the only way you can connect to internet from your Kindle DX graphite is via 3G whispernet service. You cannot use the WiFi which has a better speed. While with Kindle 3 you can choose if you like to use WiFi or 3G, depended on speed.
2. Limited website access for some country - the only way you can connect to internet is to connect via 3G whispernet service. It's not bad if you are living in the U.S.But for some other country, 3G whispernet has been limited to use only for access to Amazon. You cannot use your Kindle DX graphite free 3G to access some other website. And also you don't have WiFi connection to connect to internet. So it's kind of funny that you have to pay for 3G but use it for only connection to Amazon and buy ebooks. You can fix this problem by edit your country in your profile to the U.S. But I think it's not the right way to do it. While with the 3G you can access 3G to any website as you like even you are in the same country that DX graphite is limited.
When purchase Kindle DX make sure that you choose the 3G global wireless model. 3G model allowed you to use your Kindle DX all around the world. and great news is you can use 3G in your country :
How to reset a Kindle because it is locked up, unresponsive, or having other problems
Sometimes your Kindle ebook reader will lock up, stop responding, or seems like it doesn't work. Most of the time, resetting the Kindle will fix the issue. This article will show you how to reset it.
how to reset it.
Instructions
Determine if you have a Kindle 1, or a Kindle 2/Kindle DX. To do this, just check the back of the Kindle for a model number. If it says D00111 then it is a Kindle 1. If it says has a different model number then you have a Kindle 2/Kindle DX.
If you have a Kindle 2/Kindle DX then slide the power switch, and hold it there for 20 seconds. The Kindle should reboot, and hopefully the issue will be fixed.
If you have a Kindle 1, then there is just a little more work involved. Turn the Kindle over, and slide the battery cover off. Sometimes it may take some firm pressure to get it off. Then, near the battery, look for a small hole. Inside that hole, there's a small button. Using a paper clip, or other pointy object, press that button. The Kindle should reboot now.
If that doesn't fix the issue that you are having, then it's likely that there's a hardware problem with the Kindle. In that case, just contact Amazon at the number below, and they will give you instructions on how to get the Kindle repaired:
You can work out which kindle you have by looking at first part of the serial number and the list below:
B001 = Kindle 1
B002 = Kindle 2 U.S. (Sprint)
B003 = Kindle 2 International (AT&T)
B004 = Kindle DX U.S.
B005 = Kindle DX International
B006 = Kindle 3 3G + WiFi Graphite/White (U.S. and Canada)
B008 = Kindle 3 WiFi
B009 = Kindle DX Graphite
B00A = Kindle 3 3G + WiFi Graphite (Europe)

I do have the international version of the Kindle DX which I purchased from Amazon and it did connect to the local 3G version of Whispernet until 3 days ago and then it just won't no matter how many times I reset the whole device.
Any ideas?
I have a Kindle DX starting serial number is B009 and it is an international version. I have tried all the previous advice before contacting FixYa, so can anyone come up with an innovative solution please.
Thanks but not sure which operator that would be as we have 3 and they are all countrywide. I guess I will have to contact Amazon direct to find that out. thanks.
Came to this conclusion too after contacting a few local Kindle users who are having the same issue. neither of my Kindles the DX or the DXG will connect nor will the 1st generation, so it has to be a problem with the 3G operator.
I finally found a solution as AT&T are the worldwide provider of Amazon's Whispernet and in South Africa all 3 of our countrywide networks work with AT&T. To get to you wireless provider list on the Kindle (works for all Kindles)
Go to Settings
Hold down the Alt key and type in 311
Wait for the list of wireless providers
Choose one
Your Kindle is reconnected
This works internationally but I don't know if it will work in the US. At least it resolved my problem.
saved my dx, it lives again, new battery, rebuilt selector switch, still going, going to be heartbroken when this thing finally dies. Wish Amazon would re-release the DX (the one I can see, I am sight challenged)
