Have A Samsung 940Bw connected via DVI connection and has worked fine for last 3 years. Monitor was on and working fine went out of room and came back to black screen and the blue light flashing on the monitor. Moved mouse to wake computer up and nothing happened just blue flashing light. Powered PC down then switched back on Monitor was displaying Analogue/Digital then went back to black screen and blue flashing light. I then connected up via VGA connection and monitor works fine albeit in a stretced resolution to fill the screen is this a graphics card, monitor or dvi cable problem.

First thing I would try will beusing this monitor with another PC using the same the same setup to see if it works OK. We need to narrow down the cause of the problem first since you have three parts that can be bad; Monitor, DVI cable, PC Video card/PC. It is just a process of elimination to locate the problem.

My SyncMaster 940BW Samsung monitor does not respond to any Laptop/computer connection. The on/off blue botton is blinking. It worked well a while ago. ANy suggestions?

Hi there,
You can try to disconnect VGA cable to see will the notification "no VGA signal" appear on screen. If so the problem could be with PC graphics, else it is power board problem bad caps. Thanks

I have a Samsung 940bw monitor. After pressing the auto button, it does not work anymore. Is there a problem about monitor or is it broken? I am waiting for your help. Thanks.

Hello
damnor01 here to the rescue!

Welcome to Fixya.

Since you pushed the Auto button it is possible that the monitor has changed the input type to a type other than that you are currently using.

For instance it may have chosen to accept VGA input however you have the DVI or HDMI connected.
To fix this you will have to push the auto button again, and possibly again to get it to find your current input channel.
You may need to turn your computer off and then back on again.

You may need to connect your monitor using a different connector, example via VGA, DVI or HDMI. It all depends on the connection you have at present.
Blue Connector is VGA.
White connector is DVI.
HDMI is very narrow conector usually black.

Please be sure to rate this session!
Thanking you

Samsung SyncMaster 215tw screen goes black after about 1 sec.

I have the same problem its defenitly a problem with the lcd monitor not with the graphics card nor the pc. I hooked up the digital and afterwards the vga connection both had the same result. 1 s perfect screen all visible but than black. pushing the on/off or standby button again shortly 1s the display works than it blanks. Did the same test while connected to a dvd player via the composite video... same problem . Since the previous posts are that old and without a solution I guess there is no hope in getting it fixed.

Monitor Problems

Borrow a DVI cable from some friend and test it, just in case.

If you want to use multiple monitors, ensure you are using the right settings. Go to control panel>> Display,
open the Display properties box, click the last tab at the top right hand corner, and chose advanced see here for XP, Vista is similar:

How to connect my speakers to my monitor

you will not be able to connect your speakers to your 940BW monitor, because the monitor itself does not have any audio in/outs (or speakers for that matter).

what you will need to do, is to hook up to your computer tower. usually, most soundcards will colour-code the 3.5mm jacks you need green (although I have seen cards that have black jacks as well).

Samsung Syncmaster 245BW, can't get it up and running !

Most of the time when this happens it is due to a bad monitor, if you have another pc try to hook this monitor up to that one to see if it actually works, these monitors sometimes get damaged during shipment!
