TV remote on my model TXL2791F won't turn TV on. When I press the power button on the TV itself the little timer light blinks and the TV makes a ticking sound for a few seconds. If I press the power button again the blinking light and ticking sound happen again for a few seconds. If I repeat pushing the power button on the TV again the blinking and ticking will then go on all day long unless I unplug the TV for 15 minutes or more. All during this time the screen is dark. Just before this happened some one else was operating the remote in a haphazard way before turning off the TV. Is this a hardware problem or a software problem?

If the set can be turned on manually without the remote then the issue is with the remote.

SOURCE: Samsung LN-S4051D slow to turn on.

You are likely to have a module bad....part number BN94-00864A and if you take it out (unpluggs) you should inspect it for capacitors that may be domed or pooched up at the top. If so they should be replaced first before getting the module as the capacitors are about $1.00 each. Do a search for Samsung parts online if you need the module and call them toll free

SOURCE: 52 HD Samsung tv turns off

I have the same problem with my 56" HD Samsung. It shuts off automatically and then on the power button the word Lamp is light up in green. Sometimes I can turn it back on but other times it won't and I have to wait a bit. It's been embarassing a couple times when people were over for a movie. I believe it might be some kind of overheating problem but would like someone to confirm this.

SOURCE: model hln617w. the picture on the screen freezes

Most likely your problem is on the DMD Assy Board P/N BP96-00249A . More presicely there is a few bad electronic components on that board that are bad. That board can be repaired by replacing the bad components (and the other few compoonents that are probly going bad and will soon cause your tv to lockup and lose remote and button functions when it fails so you will need to unplug it to get it on again).
Or the DMD board can be replaced .But it is not a cheap board.
For removal and Installation of the DMD board I would reccomend a tv service person because it is in the heart of the television and there are some adjustements to be made when the new board is installed.
To get the new board you could probably find it by just gooogling the part number.
Component level repair would require some experience in desoldering and soldering SMT,SMD , and or surface mount components. The actual components are about $15.00 total so just repairing your board should cost about $125.00 by a qualified servicer (if you were to remove and install it yourself). This DMD board is used in many models and can a few common problems.
HLM437W HLM4365W HLM5065W HLM507W HLM617W HLN437W HLN4365W HLN467W HLN507W HLN50665W HLN567W HLN617W ( L2 and L5 chassis )
SYMPTOMS:
-Intermittant picture freezing with a negative looking B/W frozen picture.
-Intermittant loss of pic with/without shutdown, abnormal color wheel noise if attempted to start after shutdown.
-lockup of tv control functions . Remote and front keypad do nothing , TV must be unplugged to reset .
-horizantal tearing, distortion , flippnig , solarization , red picture, leading to blank screen and lockup.(tv menu would be affected by all picture defects).
Hope this helps someone..

How do I program this RCA nightclub universal remote for my Samsung smart TV

First understand that you need a little patience with this remote, it's a little slow, it may take a few seconds in between pushing buttons for it to react to your TV.

1)
-Turn on TV manually first.

we're going to try and get the remote paired to your particular tv

2)
-Facing RCA universal remote towards TV, press and hold both the POWER and TV buttons on the remote at the same time.. until the RCA universal remote POWER button lights up and is constantly on.

-Then press the PLAY button on RCA universal remote

(POWER button on remote should be blinking after pressing PLAY -- what the remote is doing is trying to program your TV with a list of codes. if your TV does not automatically shut off after a minute, press the PLAY button again. your TV should shut off. wait a few seconds before trying to press PLAY button again if you need to try again.)

3)
Assuming remote turned off TV. Now let's try to get the remote to turn on your TV

On the remote at top right is a REVERSE button, press that. You should see the POWER button on the remote blink once in response to you doing that.

Watch for the power on light on your TV.. your TV may take a few seconds to power on..

Wait a couple seconds. if your TV has not turned back on, press the REVERSE button again. the POWER button should blink once again in response

If your TV did not turn on. You may have to repeat pushing the REVERSE button waiting a couple seconds for the remote to try turning on your TV. For some people this can take several times, if not a dozen times. Just be sure to be patient and wait a couple seconds in between pressing the REVERSE button again. (what the RCA universal remote is doing is going through a list of codes trying to find the right model to pair to)

4)
Assuming the remote finally turned on your TV.. We are almost done. We programmed the remote to turn off the TV and turn on the TV. now we want to press the STOP button on the RCA universal remote to lock in those codes into the remote. After pressing the STOP button the light on the remote POWER button should turn off.

5)
We are done. You should be able to change the channels and raise and lower the volume of your TV.

My toshiba TP48E60 model projection tv won' turn on, power light just blinks

Blinking of power LED are fault indications. Count the number of blinks occur at one time switch on. For this number, you can get an idea about the faulty section circuit inside it. It will make troubleshooting much narrower. If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes, check this link. Pull up older posts there.

Have lost instructions to Emerson universal jumbo remote

Using Code Search:

1. Turn on the device you want to program into the remote.
2. Point your remote control at the device
3. Press and hold the "Code Search" button for about 3 seconds until the light on the remote stays on.
4. Press the button on the remote for the device you want to program. Push the "TV" button to program the TV, press the "DVD" button to program the DVD player, etc. The light on the remote control will blink and stay on.
5. Slowly press and release the power button repeatedly until the device turns off. Each time you push the power button the light should blink once.
6. Press "Enter" to save the code into the remote and the light will turn off.

Program a Manual Code:

1. First turn on the device that you want to program such as your TV or DVD player.
2. Point your remote control at the device.
3. Press the button on the remote that corresponds to the device. If you want to program the TV, press the TV button.
4. Press the "Code Search" button for about 3 seconds until the light stays on.
5. Enter the code for your device using the number pad. The light will blink each time you push a button. If the code works, the light will turn off. If the light flashes, that means the code did not work. There may be multiple codes for a device. If a code does not work, start from the beginning by holding down code search until the light stays on and use a new code.
6. Press the power button to test if your device turns off. It it does not turn off, repeat the process with a new code.

Retrieving the Code for your Device:

If you used the code search function to program your device and want to know the code for future reference, you can retrieve the code from the remote. To do this:

1. Press and hold the Code Search for 3 seconds until the light stays on.
2. Press the device button for the code you want to retrieve. Press TV to get the TV code, etc. The light will blink once and stay on.
3. Press the number buttons from 0 to 9. When the light blinks once, that signals the first number of the code.
4. Repeat for the 2nd and 3rd digits of the code. The light will turn off after you retrieve the 3rd digit.

Programming the Sleep Setting:

1. Press and hold the "SLEEP" button until the light stays on.
2. Use the number pad to enter 2 digits for how many minutes to use for the timer (01 to 99 minutes). The light will turn off and start timing.
3. Make sure the remote is pointing at your device.
4. To cancel the sleep timer, press the power button once or hold down the sleep button until the light flashes once.

Here is a list of the Emerson Universal Codes:

While watching tv I touch something on the remote to make the tv go into "on timer" The red light is blinking. I have removed power then on again the remote and tv controls work but after 4...

Check the remote carefully for a stuck button. You may have pressed a button and it went a bit crooked getting stuck.
Also, remove the batteries of the remote and try operating the TV manually. If the remote is the cause, the TV will work correctly once you remove the batteries.
Another way to check is by using a digital camera, like the one in a cell phone. Turn on the camera and point it at the remote. If you see a white light coming from the transmitter, the remote is sending a signal. Look for a stuck button.

The TV shut off by itself. Just before it went off, it said "timer off 0:00 press 09". Now when I push the power button the power light blinks and there is no picture.

sounds like somebody set the timer. normally this only makes the set enter standby mode and pressing the power button or a channel button usually wakes the set normally.
Just a longshot but have you tried pressing 09 while the light is blinking?

Tv picture is going out and standby/timer light blinks

Hi Kevin!

The issue may be related to the projection lamp in the TV and replacement may be required. However, before replacing the projection lamp in the TV, you may perform the troubleshooting steps mentioned below.

Please disconnect all the cables from the TV including the power cable then reconnect them after two minutes. Please make sure that the the power cable from the TV is directly connected to a functional wall outlet. Next, you may try connecting any other video source such as cable box, DVD player, Blu-Ray player, Playstation, etc. If the issue persists then try resetting the TV to the original factory settings.

Please follow the steps mentioned below to reset the TV to the original factory settings:
(i) Turn the TV ON.
(ii) Press and hold the Reset button on the Remote Control supplied with the TV, then press the Power button on the front panel of the TV.
(iii) Next, release the Power button. The TV will turn itself off, then back ON.
(iv) Release the Reset button.

If the issue persists then you may replace the projection lamp in the TV.
