I have an RCA Visys 25205. I am using only one phone line, so I have the line plugged into the Line 1&2 port, as the instruction manual says. I want to use the "personal" recording for Line 1 in order to have callers hear the same message at any hour. I cannot get the phone to record my message, and I am following the instructions.
Also, do the Configure OGA settings have anything to do with this? These are separate from the Record OGA settings.
Called the company. There is a misprint in the instructions.
In the section titled "Out-Going Announcement RECORD" on last step it says Press Exit to stop recording. It should have said Press Sel/Save.
I did this and it worked.
Repeat for Line 2 if you are doing both lines.
Next thing is to make sure you go right to the section titled "Configure Out-Going Announcement" and select the right type of message you want callers to hear for each line.
Worked like a charm and took 3 seconds to get 2 different personal messages on the machine.
Melissa is correct about the manual being wrong. You have to press the Sel/Save button, not the Exit button after recording a personal message. Then you have to follow the directions on page 23 to Configure each line to Personal Message.
Before you try and set the Personal voice message in place of the default, restore the Defaults (pg 24): Press Menu and scroll to Restore Settings and press Sel/Save set the telephone back to its default by selecting Yes with the up and down buttons.
Exit
Select Menu and scroll to Answering Sys and press Sel/Save and scroll to OGA Record. Press Sel/Sav and scroll to Line 1 or 2 and then scroll to Person and press Sel/Sav, Record your message and Press Sel/Sav at the end and not EXIT as shown in the manual. Pick up you phone and replace it. Do this for each line. By the way, I tried this with one telephone junction with two lines and one cord connected to the phone; it didn't work, so I have two separate line from two junction boxes and it works fine.
THANK YOU! Worked on that darned "personal OGM" FOREVER.... finally looked for help on "the web". Found the perfect answers from both Melissa and Dab.
I tried this, per the tech's instructions by phone, but Sel/Save didn't stop the recording. He advised me to unplug the phone, remove the batteries, and reinstall after 15 minutes, so here I sit ...

Usually answered in minutes!
All of a sudden my OGA's on my RCA 25205 phone disappeared and were replaced by an automated voice! My husband and I have both spent several hours trying to reprogram the announcements, but the machine won't accept them. We'll now have to hook our old phone back up! Argh:(
I cannot record a message on my RCA Visys telephone
My RCA25205 Visys will not record any messages any more. It started when line 2 seemed to get stuck 'on'. I unplugged everything and even took out the batteries. I used my old phone yesterday and it is fine. Today I plugged the RCA phone back in and line 2 is okay, but it will not record any messages.
Anyone have any luck solving? I am pulling my hair out. Brand new phone as of today and cannot get my personal message to record.
Thank you so much for posting this. I tried it and it worked the first time. My secretary was just about to send the phone back to the manufacturer, and I was going to buy a new phone.
Thank you.
I cannot record over the original message.
Help, I cannot get the phone to record or pick up when someone calls.
No that does not solve it. I have the same issues tried on both lines.
The latest directions were correct. But it is NOT recording on either line. When you start it gives you 120 seconds to record and shows the timer. It says recording, but the timer is not counting down, and NO message is recorded. Have tried both lines and NO good. What now?
I have the same problem, but nothing has worked so far. I have unplugged the phone, took out the batteries. Any other suggestions?
