I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab from a Telstra network provider without a sim card. I am with Vodafone for my iPhone and have 3G on the sim. I want to put the sim card into the Tab for internet access. How do I set the Tab to pick up the sim and use the Vodaphone network. Just putting the sim card in the tab is not working and I can't see any settings to be changing .

It depends on which model of the Galaxy Tab 4 you have. The unlocked Galaxy Tab 4 3G is compatible with the Straight Talk GSM network and has a SIM card slot. There is a Wi-fi only model which will only talk to a cellular network through a hot-spot device.

If you're not registered with a service provider they will block you as soon as they recognize the sim card. Sometimes it takes a little longer than others. It may be that the vodacom sim came with the tablet and had a trial period. One that 'trial' period expired the block it.

on the back of the device there should be a network operator who the phone/tab is branded to. you will need to contact them direct and put in a request.
