I have a 7000 manual and from memory the 7000 was released a year after the 5000 and very similar. Look at top middle image below, for feed dog release at back of the sewing free arm.
How do I raise the feed dog in my Elna 5000, a - tally_girl_19.jpg At the back of the sewing free arm (remove the accessories tray) is a slide to lower the feed dogs, there is a little stub that you need to push to release it. Manual says "Drop the feed by pushing the slide (a), which is at the rear of the elevated sewing surface, to the left. To raise the feed dog again, press down the stud (b) and the feed dog will rise when you start sewing." You might need to wind the flywheel towards you half a turn to visually check they have come up.

Testimonial: "That's it! Thank you so very much!"

Also with these machines, please note that the twin needle they require is an offset one and different to the standard twin needle you would use in a mechanical machine - the plastic bridge on the needle should be black.

Elna 3007. Tried a stich other than straight and when back to straight the machine does several stiches forward, then back, then forward and so on. I cannot get out of this mode adjusted selector

My guess is feed dog interference. Clean out bobbin, hook, and feed dog area.

You might first try lowering and raising feed dogs and see if problem goes away.

How to raise feed dogs on elna 8000 sewing machine

Should be a slide at the rear of the free arm of the machine, return it to the normal stitching setting, then start sewing and they will pop up.

Can you raise feed dogs on elna su

It may depend on your particular model, but the Elna SP manual indicates there is a darning and button plate which means the feed dogs do not raise or lower.

At about minute 34 of the video, he puts the plate cover over the feed dogs so it is doubtful that your machine is any different.

Hello, Please can you tell me how to lower the dogs teeth on Elna SU airelectronic 68 so as to do free hand embroidery. Thank you julie Roberts

This model does not have a slide or lever to lower the feed dogs. Instead, it has a little metal plate that you clip onto the rotary hook cover to cover the feed dogs. It should be in your accessory kit if it is complete, its about the size of a postage stamp, rectangular with little legs at each corner. Clip it into the four holes on the hook cover and away you go. If you are doing free motion embroidery you'll need the special foot too also shown in the image below.

Elna 5200Q The material is bunching up in front of the feed dogs

Are the feed dogs actually raising, moving, and dropping (raise the presser foot and hand-rotate the handwheel and watch how the feed dogs are moving)? If not, check to see if the stitch length is set well above the zero (which means it sews in place)? Perhaps the presser foot pressure is set too firm and is preventing the fabric from moving under the foot.

I have an Elna 3210 and my feed dog won't raise anymore. How do I fix this?

When you drop the feed dogs they drop instantly. When you raise them it takes 1-2 stitches for them to com back up. Move the switch on the back to the up position and sew a couple of stitches.

The feeder won't work right.

The machine is old and may not have been maintained. The feed dogs may be rusted.

Remove the needle plate and bobbin. Lightly mist the feed dogs with wd-40. Wipe away the excess with cotton swabs.
