having trouble putting together a 20-year-old crib for a grandbaby. The Release Lock Slide side and the bar below it I think are the problems. Can't the the slide to work

If it is an Evenflo crib you can go to Evenflo.com under replacement parts enter in the model number (it is on the small label on the headboard.) and the year. They have a PDF File with instructions.
If you go to evenflo.com you can search for replacement parts and just enter the model number and date from the head board piece and you can print it out for free.
