My InFocus IN2102EP projector is recently projecting a small white spot. If it was a PC, I'd say that a pixel was out. I've try blowing compressed air in various places, and have removed and replaced the relatively new lamp a few times - with no change. The white 'pixel' shows best on the blue 'searching' screen and sometimes flickers and goes away on a black background. Ideas?

If the projector is a DLP then it will probably be the DMD chip. The white spots are caused by damaged pixels.

DMD needs to be changed...

Most projectors have an auto search function which can be switched off. You can then set the source to the specific input that you are using. Of the problem persists it may be the battery of the Elmo. (If it has one) Maybe it isn't strong enough to send the signal and maintain it.

If the spots are well defined rectangular shapes, then DMD pixel failure would most likely be the problem.
You could replace the DMD chip, but it might be more economical to sell the unit as is and buy a new one

Sounds like a similar problem I had not too long ago. I ended up having it repaired; turned out the colorwheel broke.

There is a single screw that you need to remove, which will allow the panel covering the lamp to be removed.

The screw is located on the back grille, opposite corner from the power connector. For a full diagram and instructions download the following PDF:

It MAY be a thermal problem.

Make sure there is no obstruction on ANY side within at least 6 inches.

Sometimes they put these in cabinets and that is a no-no as it reduces air circulation/

Check that the fan and all the vents are free of dust and if it has a filter, the filter is clean.

Try putting an additional fan blowing on the unit to see if it runs longer.

Also check your cable connectors are properly seated and screw locks are set. As things warm up, the cable might be marginal if not seated.

bad power supply. you will need to replace it. try projector doctor.

This would appear to be a componeent failing and I doubt if it is user fixable.
