Hi, it sounds like the something is wrong with the electric clutch. It has a brake built into it that is supposed to stop the blades when the clutch is disengaged.
The clutch has a rotor attached to the engine shaft. The coil is inside the rotor toward the engine. There's a clutch disc attached by leaf springs to the pulley for the belt that drives the blades. There's a brake ring around the disc. When the clutch is engaged, the disc moves away from the brake ring and is held tight to the rotor.

The mower is a Husqvarna model # ZTHKW4218A (42 inch cut) with a Kawasaki 18 hp enigne Model FH531VA20402 18 h/p verus the 48 inch cut 23 hp mentioned above. When the problem initally started, I replaced the clutch with improvement for a short durattion. The problem started again after a short period (5 to 10 times of clutch being engaged). Could the problem be associated with a defective spindle (spindle locking up when clutch is engaged) or is there possibly a bearing problem in the engine. I have noted that the deck belt has a jerking and causes the tension idler to have a bouncing action. Are there any other recommentations or solutions?
Thank you. I will check the spindles.
