Refrigerator not cooling above 58 degrees. Freezer is doing fine. The digital read out in the fridge says - 5 for freezer and 34 for fridge. We bought a thermometer to put inside to test and was 58 degrees. we just bought this house one week ago with fridge making noises and flashing temp.

SOURCE: Everything freezes in the refrigerator

Your damper that controls the air to the fridge side is stuck open. It can be caused by moisture getting on it and freezing it so it wont close or by a failure in the electrical circuit that controls it. There was a service bulletin from about 3-4 years ago about defective control assemblys. I have replaced several and as far as I know Frigidaire is still replacing some of them for free if they fall under the model and serial numbers that were affected.
You can tell if it is frozen by turning the controls off and thawing the damper at the upper left rear of the fridge section with a hair dryer.. After you have it thawed out, turn the controls back on and you should hear the damper door motor running. Keep your thermometer in it and check it after a while and see if it shuts off before it freezes.
Post back with the complete model and serial numbers and I will try to locate the service bulletin at my shop computer tomorrow.

SOURCE: Samsung RS2556 - Refrigerator side is not cooling - Freezer is fine

I have RS2555 in same problem.my warranty is expired and Samsung hooked me up to an technician who asked for 300.00 for labor plus parts and tax, what a rip off!!I I called my Canadian friend who's a technician and I was told to POWER OFF the RS2555 for 24 hrs.both doors MUST open and take out all drawers,he said ,it is 90% the ICE blocked the cool airflowing,so if ICE melted, all will return to normal.
It works after I did what he said.share this and hope can help some one with same problem!

SOURCE: Temp

I've had my Samsung RS267 LASH side by side for almost 2 years now and the coils froze recently. The temperatures displayed - relating to the refirgerator side - bounce around when the coils freeze. My freezer thank goodness is still working properly. The repairman indicated that the heating element for the refrigerator coils was bad. Unfortunately he had to order the whole unit (coils, heating element, etc.) since he couldn't replace just the one part. Samsung takes their time sending the parts - we've been waiting for 10 days now. The Samsung warranty covers the compressor, evaporator, condensor, drier and connecting tube for 5 years parts and labor so we should becovered. You might be covered as well - depending on when you purchased your refrigerator. I did purchase a separate extended warranty from Lowes when I bought the refrigerator and I'm glad I did. My extended warranty included $250 in food spoilage covering our food loss due to the breakdown. Hope this helps......

SOURCE: samsung rs2533sw fridge not cooling

it sounds like the refrigerator evap is frozen up causing the compartment to get too hot. shut the unit off and let it thaw out. then take the screws out of the cover to check the stryrofoam on the back side of the cover to see if theres broken spots on it causing the air to bypass the evap causing it to freeze. Theres two screws behind the light cover and two at the very bottom of the cover and two behind the decorative plugs about 1/2 way

Kenmore Elite won't cool. How to trouble shoot

Kenmore Elite is a who range of appliance, but as you are in Kenmore Refrigerators category, let's assume it's that. All questions need full 'make model (what it is)' first 3 words please.

The only easy thing to do would be to make sure the condenser fins are clear of fluff, the compressor is running, the compressor fan is running and the internal circulation fan is running. If it is a fridge with freezer above, a blockage at the back of the freezer due to a failed defrost heater can cause an issue where no cold air drops into the fridge.

The other possibility is low refrigerant gas, but that is not something you can rectify yourself.

Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty-if the condenser coils are dirty, clean them. Verify the freezer temperature is set between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to -15 Celsius). Verify the refrigerator temperature is set between 34 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit (1 to 5 Celsius).

The cooler side of fridge does not work properly. Why?

Brand name and model number would help. It should be inside the refrigerator section usually on the upper right wall.
Link to youtube videos about this problem is below. One or more of them should help with your problem.
Go to http://searspartsdirect.com/ and enter your model number. If your model is sold by sears you can see diagrams, parts lists, manuals and get help and order parts.

What does 34F ER mean

Put a freezer thermometer in the freezer and see if it reads +34 degrees, then put it in the refrigerator. If the freezer reading is above 0 degrees, say +34, then the freezer is too warm. If the refrigerator is reading 34 and the freezer is way cold, then the refrigerator is getting too cold. This could be either a thermostat setting too cold or the sensing isn't reading properly or a much more serious issue. Generally a refrigerator should be no warmer than +40 but not freezing either +32 degrees and a freezer should be about 0 degrees. Make sure nothing is blocking the air flow duct work or where the sensors are located.
