Garmin zumo 550 GPS Receiver Logo

Volume I just purchased a new garmin 550 and cardo scala rider Q2 and the volume of the phone and gps instructions is too low to be heard adequately at speeds exceeding 30 mph through the headset. Any ideas on how to increase volume so hearing is acceptable at higher speeds.

I have all volume controls set to maximine and I still cant hear my phone or GPS unit. The FM radio is garbage with no bass and low volume. The whole thing was a huge waste of money. I called tech support and they tried to tell me it was my Zumo giving the problem. I connected the Q2 to a friends Zumo and got the same results. Seems everyone involved wants to point a finger instead of taking any responsibility. I highly reccommend that no one buy this unit unless maybe you ride a motor scooter that is extremely quite and want do over 40 mph. The Zumo is excellent but forget the Q2.

I had a similar problem when I first connected my Cardo Scala Rider set to the helmet. First off, make sure that the volume on the Zumo is set to 100% for BOTH guidance and mp3 functions. Then click the upper control on the Cado Scala to maximize the volume of the headset. When you've accomplished those two electronic hurdles, adjust the location of the speakers in the helmet - if location of the speakers is not optimized nothing you do with the electronics will have much effect. I typically run the mp3 volume at 20% and the GPS at 50% with the headset volume at halfway. My Cardo Scala unit is a Teamset and I sometimes have problems hearing my rider scream that I'm going too fast. I haven't bothered yet to tell her to keep the microphone closer to her lips.

My scala rider G4 set has lost hearing in one of the headsets. Where is an authorized rapair shop?

Cardo had a problem in the firmware of the early models that caused the auto adjust on the volume to overload the speakers. Not knowing how old your unit is I have no way of knowing if this is the problem. If you still have the units you can buy new audio bases. I also have a source for replacement batteries.

My scala rider battery won't hold a charge in standby - typically goes flat in about 8 hours. And I cannot get a reply about it from Cardo

Guys, if you roll out a device that can detect the battery if you own a soldering iron it can be easily replaced by a similar or even greater capacity.
