Broderbund Print Master Silver 16.0 for PC Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 11, 2011

I have used PrintMaster 10 for a number of years on my old computer-XP. I recently purchased a new computer and wish to put the program on my laptop( Windows 7). I tried choosing the compatibilty method w/o success. Is there something else I should try? I cannot install Printmaster 10 to my new laptop. When I tried the screen just went dark with a light rectangle in the middle. I tried using the XP with service pack 3 and 2. I also tried the compatibility for Windows 95 without success. The only solution with this older software that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate (or are willing to upgrade to one of these versions), you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Please note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them. You can't have a printer installed on both the main computer and the virtual one at the same time. You will be asked to uninstall the printer if you try.

Your other option is to upgrade to PrintMaster Platinum 18.1, see http://www.broderbund.com/ for details, which is compatible with Windows 7. This will import your Printmaster 10 projects.

I hope this helps.

I am running windows 7 and I would like to know how to install an old version of printmaster silver 10 on windows 7

Printmaster 10 may not work with Windows 7. Just uninstall Printmaster 2012 then install Printermaster 10 using the installation CD.
I recommend you go to the Printmaster support site and ask them if version 10 will work with Windows 7 so you do not have to uninstall 2012 version if version 10 will not work with Windows 7.

I had Printmaster 10 installed on my computer, but recently had to reload, I saved my invoice files to a disc, but they will not open up unless I reinstall Printmaster 10. I have Windows XP, and the disc...

I suspect that when you re-installed 10 it corrupted in some way and did not install properly. If you are using the same computer as before and the same software disc as before, then unless you had an update, which changed printmaster 10, it should be the same as before.
The only updates to Printmaster 10, would have been around a few years after it came out. There are no software updates for any software that still works only on XP as the system is now redundant.

Try re-installing Printmaster 10.

I purchased a printmaster platinum 12 in 2002 and loved it but now i am trying to download the software into a diffrent computer since out other computer crashed. i have my registration # but i can only...

I am guessing that your new computer has windows vista on it. That may be the reason Printmaster 12 will not install. Certain programs or their installations are not compatible with Vista.

I'm not sure what errors you are getting, and I am assuming you are running Windows Vista, so again I'm just guessing.

You could try to launch the setup program manually and using compatibility mode by following these steps:

1. Insert your installation disk.
2. Click the start button

3. Click on Computer
4. Right click on the drive containing your installation CD
5. Select Explore from the menu.
6. Find the Setup or Install file in the list.
7 Right click on it.
8. Select Properties.
9 Select the Compatibility tab at the top.
10. check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
11. In the drop down menu select windows xp
12. check "disable visual themes"
13. Check "run this program as administrator" (if it is available)
14 click OK

15 now double click on the setup/install program.

I hope this solves your problem.
Thanks!

I bought Printmaster Platinum 16 and used it with XP just fine, but Vista won't let me install it

I understand that most old xp programs wont work on Vista. You might call the mfg. to see if they have a diver that would work with Vista.
Or some kind of other fix. I dought that they Have. New printer with vista software is probably in your future.
