Trying to figure out the placement of the speakers. In the menu it asks for distance for each speaker...ie 3 ft, 10 ft, etc. Is the distance from the tv/blu ray player?

so what makes you think the laptop has BT? its and option on all PC made, when new (check this first)
is this the only BT device you own? do tell. and can be added to any PC on earth with a BT USB dongle stick. for like $4 what is the distance to the speakers (BT uses radio signals weak) 10ft 50 ft (10 meters) what? distance matters on all transmitters regardless if BT, wifi, wlan, or 3g/4g/. etc...
BT comes in 2 power settings, some devices do not use high power mode. (on speakers this would make for best) does the speakers pair with any other PC? with BT?
the speakers if not junk has RTM manual. and read the page on how to reset pairing. BT loves to memorize your favorite devices, so if problems happen. learn how to reset that memory , call reset pairing history.
Since you posted this question nearly 3 weeks ago, I expect you figured it out by now - in which case, please mark thread as "closed".
If you are still trying to figure it out, please reply with the following information:
1. Make and model of mixer
2. What you are using as a signal source (mic, instrument, etc.)
3. Make and model of your speakers (important if they are self-powered, or not)
We'll take it from there - but a couple pictures will answer a lot of questions in regard to gain structure, signal path routing, buss outs, etc.

Looking at the type of speaker i would give it a safe distance of 10 ft. Anything further than that would be audible but slightly decreased in quality.
A strand copper cable in clean condition, a guage from 10-16AWG will suffice. Choose a solid state amplifier with a high damping factor, preferably no less than 100 and able to operate with low distortion with up to 100 watt loads.
I see that these have a side firing driver so keep in mind there placement distance from side walls; going too close may give a bloomy or boomy sound.
Optimal placement of these like speakers of any design will vary depending on room dimensions and your listening distance from them.
A good place to start with them would be the same distance apart from each speaker as they are from the listening position. In that position they should also be placed closer to a rear wall than any side wall, approximately half that distance.
johnledon1, You can compare this the 45 and 60 degree listening positions for surround sound but it means just what you said, 20 degrees for a narrow field and 40 for a wider field. Just remember to listen to what your ears are thinking and not others are telling you as your ears cannot be wrong to you.
45 Degrees: The speakers are half the distance apart from each other as they are from the listening position; i.e-10 ft apart but 20 ft away.
60 Degrees: The speakers are the same distance apart from each other as they are from the listening position; 10 ft apart but 10 ft away.
In surround sound, the higher the budget film, the higher field degree is optimum but never more than 60 degrees where you can easily go down to about 25 degrees.
For music most people like a narrower field unless you like groups like Pink Floyd where sometimes they will sound better in a wider field.
Enter the speaker setup menu and toggle till you get to the selection for speaker distance. Assuming that you have your speakers properly positioned for correct reproduction of 5.1 surround sound, decreasing the setting for speaker distance will help. Start with 3-4 feet closer from the current setting. This enables the on board DSP (digital signal processor) to delay in milliseconds, the sound output for closer distance settings. It can also advance in milliseconds as well for further distance settings FYI.
there are many settings 1.distance (This is the distance between you and the speakers) if your sitting say 6 ft away then you set it to 6 and so on (all front speakers should be lined up the same distance from you) The rear speakers are set up the same way (distance from where you are sitting) then 2. small and large (always pick large for best sounf)3.Tone (this is more a matter of choice) play around a bit with it! the sub should be at least one foot from the wall for best sound! I keep my center chanek a little lower then the other channels for best sound !
