Take the bottom piece off, remove the last battery and put a coating of petroleum jelly on the threads of the tube. Then take the bottom piece and run it all the way in and back off and back in 2 or 3 times. Then put a little more petroleum jelly on the threads and put the battery back in and the bottom piece. This should do it.

Bought a maglite 2-cell D today, put batteries in..no power at all.. help :)

make sure battery is good. Did you install batteries correctly? flat side (-) in first. Try adjusting the head where it screws on.turn in both directions. Last if this doesn`t work -return it for an exchange where you bought it..
hope your not in the dark..

Cycling through the modes with a Mini-Maglite

I've had the same problem, even took a new Mini Mag back to the store, only to get another one doing the same thing.....finally realized that the batteries that came with the flashlight were not good. Fresh new batteries solves the problem.

I have a five D cell Maglite. Seems to always

There are diffferent mag lite bulbs made for different amounts of batteries. Be sure that you have the 5 cell light bulb. Also try to keep your fingers off the glass. if you get any oils on it, wipe it off before turning it on.
Also you can get mag lite specific bulbs...they cost more but they're worth it.
