Which model do you have? The ATSC tuners were required in 42" TVs starting in the middle of 2005. Some Hitachi 42" TVs built before that date have an ATSC tuner but other models do not. The ones that didn't were usually called HD-ready TVs. For those models, you need a set-top box to receive OTA signals (except for some low power stations that continue to broadcast an analog signal).
If you provide your model number, I'll try to confirm the tuner information. If you look at the model information plaque on the back of the TV, you will see some information about when the unit was manufactured. If it was built in 2006 or later, you can be sure that the unit has a digital tuner.
The unit has motion-sensor/ photo eye capability built in. There are no replacement parts for this type of device. Or long-term warranty. The solution that comes to mind immediately is to rewire unit to by-pass the sensor, then install astro dawn-dusk wall timer in place of light switch. http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-timers.html Or install round box extension on the wall box, and wire up separate photo-eye mounted in the box extension. http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-and-troubleshoot-photo-eye.html
If the unit has a built in analogue tuner, the unit itself will still operate as normal, but without the built in analogue channels - to record a TV show, you would need to connect an external set top box to it (SD or HD - or both).
In other words, apart from a separate set top box, if required, there should be no need to change any of the unit's settings if it works as is. I do not believe this model has a built-in digital (DVB) tuner.
Unplug unit or turn breaker off. Under unit is a silver box, remove screws to check that all wires are attached securely to unit from plug, and confirm belt is intact.
Check where the pigtail ( the wiring harness that goes from the outlet to the actual dishwasher itself. This connection will more than likely be at the very bottom of the dishwasher and is in a metal box. Disconnect the power before opening the box and see if the problem isn't right there. There really isn't an internal breaker for these type units.
The unit is hard wired (no plug). with the kick plate removed, you will see a wiring box. With the power off, open the wiring box and disconnect the supply wiring then disconnect the incoming wire from the unit. turn off the water and disconnect the water line under the unit. disconnect the drain line under the sink and pass the slack through behind the dishwasher. Open the door and remove the mounting screws holding the unit in place. slide the unit out.
