I live in a very small one room studio, and have a comfort aire window unit...air and heat. The heat works real well, but in the spring and summer,I would set the unit on the coldest setting.I can hear the compressor kick on and it will blow out cold air...problem is that it wont stay on for long and kicks back off, only blowing out cool air, therefor I wake up sweating every morning. It will not keep this room COLD. Before this unit was installed last year, there was an older air condtioner unit in this room(unsure of the make),but it kept this room ICE COLD, until it broke down and was replaced with this Comfort-aire unit. I must tell you,Im not liking this brand very much.Could you tell me what could possibly be the problem?Im tired of waking up totally wet and sweltering. Thank you, Ms.Connie Pedigo. p.s.......No its not menopause...lol

Lets look at the output of the system first. Take your square footage of the area you are trying to condition and times it by 15. We try to get 15 Btu's per square foot of air conditioning. If your area is say 10 by 15, you have 150 square feet; times it by 15 = 2250 Btu unit is required. If you have a 5,000 Btu unit, it should be more than enough to cool the room. If this is correct, the problem may be because you have the unit set for Dry. In Dry mode, the compressor will cycle less frequently than if on Cool. If in fact the unit is on Cool, you may need to lower the temperature setting to fool the sensor from turning off the compressor prematurly. If you still can't cool the area, your unit has an issue with either refrigeration or air circulation and will need to be serviced.

Is my portable lg air conditioner suppose to be blowing hot air out of the back

YES
it works the same as any air conditioner where if you go outside and place your hand at the fan then it will be blowing hot air
In the instructions it should say place the rear near an open door or window or use the hoses to move the hot air out of the room
air conditioner units are basic heat transfer units where they take the heat out of the room and transfer it to the outside and in the process remove the moisture from the air in the room which i turn makes it more comfortable

Hi, I know insects are attracted to light, vibrations etc. it's almost like a mosquitoes infestation this summer, am having issues too, and they are huge too. any way, check in front panel, where your control knob, thermostat located, look for, switch/ lever that shut/ open small window, inside your a/c, you can use that control to prevent air from outside, coming in, and prevent mosquitoes and other insects. from coming in too. that control purpose, is to mixed outside fresh air, with your cool a/c air before entering your
(room (space) control it to your comfort. good luck.

Ductless minisplit in old mobile home

ductless mini split units are a very good choice!  they are obviously quieter, more efficient and easier to maintain than window units. the downside is the initial expense of buying the unit, but this is paid back in eletric savings and peace of mind. Good luck Peyton

Just a little question, guys!

The blower has absolutely nothing to do with outdoor air. Having the T-Stat set to auto lets the blower come on only when the A/C-heat comes on. With the switch in the ON position the blower simply runs all of the time. Depending on your living space (high ceilings, multi-level) having the blower on constantly while costing a small amount to run can actually save some money and make you more comfortable in the summer. However most people will leave it in auto in the winter so they don't feel as if they have a draft from the air movement as the blower is in high speed in fan on position and cool modes and low speed in heat mode. Many furnaces today are equipped with a setting that allows the blower to run constantly at a lower speed or simply run for a min. or two after the A/C=Heat have turned off.
