Onkyo TX-SR805 - surround sound problem

I have an Onkyo 805 running 7.1 surround sound in my t.v. room. There is a 35 ft HDMI cable running from the receiver to the LCD TV. Watching DVD, AT&T Uverse TV, or Playstation, CD, or Radio the sound will inevitably cut out after a few minutes or even up to a couple hours. The only issue I can potentially see is that I have 8 ohm speakers but Onkyo's on screen display will only allow me to set 6 ohm speakers. Is there a possible hardware of software problem within the receiver? I'm at the point where I plan on returning the 805 and buying a Denon. Zone 2 runs from an analog line out to a second amplifer, and works flawlessly.

Same over...HDMI switching makes a 'clicking' noise when audio playback starts. Video over HDMI continue to work though. ??

The speaker impedance is not the problem.

Looking at the back of the sr805, there is a second subwoofer output, this one is the preout. 4 rca jacks to the right of the non-preout subwooker. Moved it, and all works now.

Hello Fixya team, I need help!

To set up your home theater system with the equipment you mentioned, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the Onkyo receiver to the NEC TV using an HDMI cable. Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to the correct input for the Onkyo receiver.
  2. Connect the Panasonic DVD player to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect the Firestick Lite to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  4. Connect the Panasonic speakers to the Onkyo receiver using speaker wires. Make sure you connect the speakers to the correct speaker terminals on the receiver, which are usually labeled with the speaker's position (e.g. front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right).
  5. Configure the Onkyo receiver to use the correct input for each device. For example, set the input to "DVD" when you want to watch a movie on the Panasonic DVD player, or set the input to "Firestick" when you want to watch content on the Firestick Lite.
  6. Configure the audio settings on the Onkyo receiver to use the correct audio format for your content. For example, if you are watching a movie with Dolby Digital surround sound, make sure the receiver is set to decode Dolby Digital audio.
  7. Adjust the volume and other audio settings on the Onkyo receiver as needed to optimize the sound quality.
Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to enjoy surround sound audio from your Panasonic speakers through the Onkyo receiver.

Onkyo TX-SR805 Amp isnt projecting the picture through my Sony kdl46xbr. i am recieving sound but no picture. Reconnecting direct from source to TV and no issue so the problem is with the amp. HDMI symbol...

I have a 607 by Onkyo and you have to assign imputs to the imput selector. I don't know if your model uses the same, but if it does press setup and select input assign then select HDMI imput to see what it is set to.

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

ONKYO TX-SR805 Display screen does not light up.

Resetting the unit MAY work, however you will reset everything to factory and have to set it all up again. If resetting does not work, sounds like you will be looking for your local, friendly rrepair shop. Onkyo carries a two year warranty on these units, hopefully yours is still under. If not I would contact ONKYO directly because it seems they have had A LOT of problems with the screen on the 805 and 875 models

Onkyo 805 sub hook up problem

Talked to tech support at Onkyo and there seems to be two (2) places you can hook your sub up to. I placed mine in the wrong slot. So please double check where you placed the sub connection.
