How to change a serpentine belt on a 1999 intrepid?? Does the alternator need to be loosened??

The alternator does not have to be loosened.

The tensioner mount has a square hole in it for inserting a ratchet or a breaker bar. Pull the tensioner in the direction which realeases the tension on the serpentine belt.

99 dodge intrepid 2.7 engine, only runs when connected to jumper cables. where is the alternator located, could this be the issue or electrical problems

Definately could be the issue. The alternator should be located on the passenger side of the car at the front of the engine. Look for the belt-it will be going around the alternator pulley. IF you can take it off you can take it to Auto Zone (or one of the other guys) and get it tested.

1999 dodge intrepid, battery light on, replaced battery and engine computer, light still on. Is there a reset? What else can cause this dash light to come on?

If your alternator is going bad the battery indicator light will come on your dash. I did the same thing before thinking my battery was bad and buying a new one. Turns out it was the alternator. Hope this helps..
