My HP 2605dn will not print in color. I allowed the color cartridges to run out before I replaced them. Then when I put the new cartridges in I forgot to pull out the shipping tape. The tape is now removed, but still no color. The problem seems to be in the printer, as I see no color on the test page.

Is it all the colors? Make sure the drum shutters open and close when opening and closing the front door. Missing magenta color is common in this machine and other machines like it. The magenta laser scanner mirror sits in the lower part of the printer and face up and toward the front of the printer. Loose toner from printing tends to settle on this mirror. Over time the mirror coats over and the actual laser scanner beam cannot reflect off the mirror with proper intensity, usually resulting in very faded magenta color or no magenta at all. Good luck

SOURCE: Alignment problem

Here's a solution from Dell Technical Support hotline - just hit cancel as soon as the pirnter starts the alignment process. It worked for me! You will have to cancel the alignment page every time you turn on your printer, but that's better than no printing at all.

SOURCE: HP 2605dn laser - color fading

HP has a list of troubleshooting steps you can go through for the HP 2605dn when you experience print quality issues.

Two specific things I would try from that list are:

  1. Clean the electrostatic transfer belt.
  2. Clean the printer paper path.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: photo 924 keeps saying alignment problem. please remove tape from

""I have the same issue. I replaced both cartridges and ran the alignment test numerous times but kept getting this message. I then unplugged the printer and plugged it back in and it was fixed! You probably already tried this but if not, it worked for me. Good luck!""

try that for about 10 seconds per the manual at ("http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/924/en/om_en/om_en.pdf" if you don't have it)

good luck!

SOURCE: hp 2605dn Black cartridge is printing 1/8" LEFT of other colors.

That problem is frequently on HP 2600 series.
You must try to change all remanufactured toner cartridges with HP OEM with no exception, the best alignment it is when you change the black cartridge and the printer make a cleaning page process. Cartridge HP OEM should be almoust empty. It Is not necesarry to be a new one. After the alignment process, you can put the remanufacturated cartridges back on.

I have just replaced all four cartridges on my 2605dn. Up until then it was printing well. Now the colours do not align. I have re calibrated and reset to factory settings but to no avail. Help please

Often you will need to run 2-3 complete calibration cycles in a row to get the colors to align properly. And make sure that if you have the option for full calibration you run that, not a quick calibration although my memory tells me that there is only one option on this printer.

I have an hp color laser jet 2605dn. I have lost my manual and it won't allow me to print. The screen on the printer says replace supplies. I have new cartridges in and it still is saying that. What...

Supposedly the operator panel should display a "supplies gauge" which should display the status of what needs replacing.

Hi, my printer is a HP Color Laser Jet 2605dn. I've had it for several years and it's proved to work fantastic in all areas. However, in the last few months, I've had color issues. The printer prints out...

This printer does not use ink cartridges. It is a laser printer and uses toner cartridges. Yes, one or all three toner color cartridges maybe running out of toner.

Even though I have the settings on B&W print only, my color ink cartridges run out the same time as my black ink - or so says the printer. Any way around that?

If cartridges are fine, you can Override the Replace Supplies Message. Follow the instructions given below from (Page 146) of HP 2605dn Manual

I have done it myself and it works fine. Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

HP 2605dn Black prints 1/8" offset to left. Colors do register

Missalignment problems ae not uncommon with this series of printer.
The cause is one of the sensors (which are used for calibration and alignment) on the transfer belt, is faulty.

These sensors are NOT availale, and replacement of the transfer belt is the solution.

Transfer belt replacement on these printers requires quite a bit of dismantling, its not considered to be a user replacable consumable.

2605dn says "replace supplies" points to black

You might have an issue with the cartridge lockers. Be sure to clean cartridge contacts and HV pins in printer. Doesn't help? Do like this. In the printers menu, under system set up, then print quality, then replace supplies there you can choose override out. Print a status page and check status for the cartridges, if the printer don't prints in override mode you have a brooken cartidge locker. In that case, remove all toner cartridges and check the lockers by moving cartridgedoor in and out, do all works the same way or is any of them different?
