The color wheel on the set is bad and that is what is causing the buzzing. This unfortunatly is common.
It can be the lamp. But the color wheel and ballast can cause the same thing. Put your ear to the back of the set when you push the power button and you should can here the color wheel start up. If not, that is your problem.

Now if the lamp is not lighting up. you should here a ticking sound from the back of the set, if not the ballast is bad. If the lamp is coming on and then going out after only about 5 seconds AND you do not here the start up of the color wheel, the color wheel is confirmed bad.

Below is a link to the a service manual you can buy and have it shipped to your home if you want to try the repair yourself.

Samsung model HLP4663WX/XAA with loud buzzing noise, need to know which part to replace.

See attached photo: you have a bad color wheel----it turns at about 12,000 rpm and bearings in the tiny motor go bad.

High pitched or fan like sound is classic symptom.

The wheel is available on the internet and You Tube has video instructions by model number for replacing it---Google the model number for the part number for your set to locate the part and instructions.

This for most people is a do it yourself job---takes like 45 minutes start to finish.

If color wheel slows too much set will shut down as its speed is monitored and the wheel can even shatter causing shutdown of the set.

I have a samsung hln437n and I have a loud, high pitch buzzing noise which stays on all the time. It sounds like it is coming from the lamp. Any idea what the problem is?

Could be a slightly loose lamp connection and/or slightly loose lamp module - especially if you
have big trucks or railway tracks near your place (like me). Try powering down the TV set, use the
instructions that came with your TV to remove the lamp module, then simply re-install the lamp
module (also known as "reseating the lamp module").

If the buzzing noise persists, then
its coming from a component near the lamp (such as the power supply).
If there's a transformer in the power supply that's buzzing, then its about to fail.

My samsung 42 inch hdtv is making a buzzing noise

First. The whirring or buzzing sound you hear is the Color Wheel and it needs to be replaced. Second, since I do not know when and if the original lamp has been replaced it is a good idea to replaced the lamp. The bad Color Wheel is the one causing the set to shut down.

Loud buzzing noise on vizio tv

It sound like you may have sound processor problem which is part of the main board, I would also look at the 12vdc from power supply to make sure it is clean DC.

I have owned a Sony Grand Wega for about 3 years now and for the past few months the TV has been making a very loud noise. I thought the noise was the fan but came to find out it was not the fan and was...

Hello,

There is a fan beside the lamp chamber in this TV. There should be 4 fans total, and the one beside the lamp chamber might be making some noise. They are all bearingless fans, so the noise should be relatively low-pitched "whirr" if it is the fan. If the noise is more of a buzzing sound, it could be coming from the lamp driver (ballast) or from the lamp itself. Lamps tend to do strange things toward the end of their life.

If you have never changed the lamp, it is about time. They have a 2.5 -3 year life span with average use.

One thing you can try is to turn the TV on from a cold start, and watch inside the vent areas beside the lamp chamber. If you hear the noise before you see the lamp light up, then it is probably a fan. If it starts as soon as you see the lamp light up, it is the lamp or ballast.

Hope this helps you...

Loud Buzzing Sound

since you changed the lamp my next thought is that the color wheel has failed,,,most good road techs can replace it in the home..the cost would be between 220.00 and 350,00 depending on the company...
