My business uses a Sony microcassette transcriber M-2000. After listening to a tape for a few seconds, the volume decreases to the point where it is inaudible. The only way to restore the volume is to step off of the foot pedal and then push on the pedal again to resume transcription. With lengthy transcriptions, I am constantly stepping on and off of the pedal. We have bought two new units, new foot pedals, new earphones, and new tapes and we still have this problem. We are ready to buy another brand if this cannot be resolved but would like to continue with the set we have now. Can you please give us any insights as to why we might be having this problem? Thank you.

YOu may be confusing HI8 with 8mm. One being analog, the other being digital, and a slight difference in form factor

SOURCE: 8mm Tape stops when rewinding

try this:
some cameras have a memory where they begin make sure the memory is off or cleared then try to rewind or try fwd to end clear memory then rewind tape...

now sometime tapes of 120 are really not recommended because of the load of tape amd ost have a tension sensor 60m is usually the best recommended

SOURCE: transcription does not work .. foot pedal will not

Hello on the right side of unit is a switch for transcribe make sure is on the on position you are going to see on Deck A only lines on display, put your tape on Deck B is the only side that transcribes if the pedal does not respond you probably have a broken pedal here is one in a great price

When using the foot pedal for forward playback to transcribe, when you lift your foot to stop the tape continues forward for about a second.

It sounds to me that you might have a mechanical problem in the machine. I am not familiar with this machine, but I have worked on lots of tape machines. The belts and rubber pieces can get slick or stretched causing problems.

Probably has a bad sensor belt (small belt attached to silver and black reflective wheel).

Cleaning and demagnetizing recording head on microcassette transcriber machine

You no longer need to demagnetize heads they aren't the same inductive materials they used to be. To clean you just need alcohol and a cotton swab. Clean head and capstan roller and capstan.

I have a new Sony Microcassette Transcriber M-2000 and cannot figure out how to ERASE a tape that I've transcribed. The Operating Instructions don't mention that feature, either. Can you help me?

Hello sorry the M-2000 don't have the ERASE feature but your only option is to get a tape eraser you can get one at http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-ME20-Mini--Micro-Cassette-Eraser---New__VE-ME-20.aspx just think positive your unit will last longer the eraser prolong the life of units just pass the microcassete once on the eraser and is done full erase :)

What a cheap machine. Can't erase confidential tapes after transcribing them. I'm returning this for a brand that has enough common sense to add an erase button.

Hello unfortunately this unit don't have a erase function the only thing you can get a Microcassette eraser this eraser will help even if you decide to buy any micro or mini cassette transcriber when you used the erase function on the unit the life on the head, rewind, gears and motors get reduced by using this method if you used and eraser it erase the tape Magnets are on top and bottom eliminating the need to flip the tape allowing complete erasure on one second heare is a eraser you can buy and it is cheaper than buying other unit. http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-ME20-Mini--Micro-Cassette-Eraser---New__VE-ME-20.aspx
