There could be a few reasons 1 you havent updated the netflix app (if applicable, im not sure if the wii does it automatically.) 2 you haven't paid for the month (billing problems should be handled with netflix.) 3 no wifi. If its none of these it is possible netflix was updating something or temporarily out of service.
You could try a KonBoot USB flash drive. If your system was bought with Win 8.1 on it, it is probably a UEFI Win8 install so you will need to UEFI boot from a UEB flash drive.
