<br />
<br />
Please perform the following steps and let me know the message that will be displayed on the printer.<br />
Press and hold the "*" key. <br />
Press the "#" key and release both keys. <br />
Display should say "Enter Special Key Combo" <br />
Press and release in sequence the "1", "2" and "3" buttons.<br />
Press and release the right arrow button until the display says "System Configuration Menu".<br />
Press and release the "OK" button.<br />
Display should say "Hardware failure status". If not there already, Arrow Key over to "Hardware failure status",<br />
Press and release the "OK" button.<br />
Display should say "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear".<br />
Press and release the "OK" Button. Message changes to "Hardware failure status Press Cancel to continue".<br />
Press and release the "CANCEL" button as many times as necessary, so
that, either the "Welcome to Photosmart Express" screen appears, or,
the "Ink System Failure" screen appears. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT
THIS STAGE.<br />
Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.<br />
Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the
power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the
printer<br />
Turn the unit on. The
printer may display message "USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER"
followed by "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE". Press OK. The Printer will start the
"ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS". Allow this process to complete
and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the
printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.<br />
<br />
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. <br />
Thanks,<br />

please format the hard drive by holding down the 0+8 buttons while switching on the machine when in test mode key in 690 press the start button make sure the number 2 is displayed when finished switch off and wait awhile then switch on if the machine still gives the error replace the hard drive and do the firmware good luck
This might be a bad main Image Processor (650-4307-00) board. We can isolate it by printing an internal test print.
You can power up the unit in diags (hold "back" & "info" buttons while powering up) Go to "Built in Test Prints" and try to print the "Grid 1 Dot Pattern"
If you print, then it's proven...
If not, then you will get an error that will allow further troubleshooting.
Suspect the toner heating element (fuser) may be malfunctioning. Dell may be able to walk you through a "hard reset" that involves opening the front door, turning on an off the printer with certain buttons held down, etc.
