Microphone and headphone problem
Hello,
Usually when you double click the speaker icon in the system tray you'll see the volume settings for all your devices. On microphone there is usually an check box for mic boost. Set those to mic boost. Then check that all the sliders in the volumes are one increment below the top but maximum for Wave. Then set the master volume to a comfortable loudness This you can access by a single click to the speaker icon.
Next, you can go to Control Box, click on Sounds and check the settings for speakers/headphone and also for recording where there is usually a routine for checking the recording settings via your microphone made available to you.
Please do not hesitate to ask me for more information and kindly be specific if you can. I'm here to help and will get back to you in a reasonable period of time.
Hope this fixed your problem and thanks for using Fixya.
Regards,
Worldvet
I fixed the problem. I returned it for another one. The new one works fine. Apparently they come out of the box that way fairly often. I did some more research and found a forum where a guy posted part of his commmunication with the techs in Japan. They said thery were aware, and really nothing could be done. A firmware update would not fix it and it had something to do with one of the boards inside. They did not plan on doing anything about it either. Anyway, I really like the thing when it works, so I'm keeping it. I did remember to save this link. Kind of interesting. http://www.sonicstudios.com/zoomh4rv.htm. efbman
I have the same problem. I own the Zoom H4 and two H2's. I just within the last week bought 3 oem 8 GB SD SDHC
cards on ebay and upgraded to the most recent 1.40 firmware on my H2's. I placed the cards in the H2's and formatted them and they worked just fine. So I updated the H4 , formatted the remaining card, and tried to record something in the .WAV mode and on playback it had a repetitive click throughout the playback, even after two or three
recordings the same thing on playback. I then set it to record in mp3 mode and NO CLICK. So I took the card out of the H4 and placed it in one of the H2's, formatted it, and tried and tried a .WAV Mode recording and on playback it clicked on the H2 !!. A BAD SD CARD!!. After placing another sd card in the H4 no problems. So check your sd cards,
they could be defective.
