Hi- I have a portable dvd player, model PVS12701 that was purchased for Xmas '07. The battery doesn't hold the charge anymore. I read the answers from a couple yrs ago, but I just wondered if you had a more recent answer as to where I could purchase a new battery. Batteries Plus does not carry them. Thank you, Nancy

NEED A NEW BATTERY FOR MY TRUTECH PORTABLE DVD

Best Buy sells a couple different types of "Universal" batteries in their stores. They are by no means the exact same as the one you have connected now, but they will subside as a battery. If you were looking to get the exact same one that you have on the player now, you would have to contact the manufacture and order it directly from them. The ones that I am referring to from Best Buy have a variety of "plugs" in the package with the battery and you simply charge up the battery with the supplied charger and then pick out the "plug" that fits your particular unit and plug it into the charging slot on your portable DVD player.

Will not hold charge. LI-ion 7.4v. what,s wrong?

I have heard that if you run a LI-ion battery completely dead that it's gone. Does your unit work on AC? Is the connector loose? What battery number do you have?

Question

Hi,

To my knowledge, a TruTech PVS12701 uses a Lithium-Ion 7.4v 2500mAh battery. There are no exact replacement batteries for this model. Best that you can try are batteries for some other brand of portable DVD players such as those for Samsung that has the same physical dimensions and electrical properties. Another factor to be considered is the cost of the battery. In some instances, it would be more economically reasonable to purchase a new portable DVD than just the battery. Sorry.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Problem with Trutech portable player

It probably needs a new battery if it isn't holding a charge.

You can probably find them at Radio Shack or Batteries + stores.

Battery Charger for Trutech Portabel DVD player

Hi,

As have been posted in a post of similar concern...

You can try calling Target Customer Service 1.800.440.0680 and inquire cost & availability of the charger for the TruTech PVS12701.

Additionally, you may want to contact the manufacturer direct.
ALCO Electronics, Inc.
8392 Six Forks Rd., Suite 104, Raleigh, NC 27615,
(800) 252-6123)
Should you need direct Customer Support, please try here.

Alternately, you can just look for an AC adapter/charger that has the following specs:
Input Voltage - your country's standard AC mains;
Output Voltage - 12VDC
Output Current - at least 1.5 Amp (the higher the better)
Connector - one that will fit and match the polarity of the TruTech PVS12701. (am guessing crown type center positive, pls confirm with the store. It may also help to bring along the unit when doing the purchase over the counter).

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
