My Black & Decker F1050 steanm iron started spitting ugly brown water out today...HELP?

All question need FULL 'make model (what it is)'. Black and Decker make electric screwdrivers, electric drills, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, breadmakers, toasters, irons, toaster ovens and garden equipment like leaf vacuums and trimmers plus electric mowers. You give no clue to which you have, so it is a question that can't be answered. It _may_ be in this link?

Try using CLR cleaner, if not just buy a new one, and keep the receipt for a return down the road, these iron's are reasonable nowadays.

Brown water and white scale are often the result of the water you use in the iron...

If you have scale, white vinegar will clean that...

For brown water, empty the iron, rinse out the insides with bottled water,

and then use the bottled water instead...

I would empty the water out and attempt to flush it out and steam some C.L.R through it

How old is the steam iron?
And what type of water have you been using in it during its life?

The reason I ask, is that my Wife's was doing this, and we have fairly 'hard' water,
and she was using water directly from the tap.
After a year or so of this 'hard' water, calcium and minerals build up in the heating chamber in the iron-- Also passageways get clogged, and instead of smooth flowing steam, you get build-up of pressure, and then sputtering and spurting take place, as the clogged passageways try to pass the steam to where it needs to be.

Run white vinegar through the iron over the sink with iron on high & steam button pressed down. This should dissolve any minerals that build up in it. Then run water through it over the sink to rinse the vinegar out.
