Honest answer: take super heavy duty zip ties and tie the drop side in place in like 8 places to be sure it will stay put.

i did it with my crib to be safe when simplicity recalled theirs for rail issues, i would start with trying to get a hold of a person st simplicity for children your crib may be one of the ones recalled for rail failure issues then they would send you parts free

they should also be able to help you find out if the crib is theirs or not too

you should under the crib for a sticker with numbers, usually the model number / serial number and date of manufacture if you come up with a model number type it into a search engine online if manufacture name not on that label to find out who makes it, then contact them for pieces

hope that helped

Unique Oak Treasures Crib - Full Bed Bassett Model 5542-0521

We have this crib as well. We bought it from Babys R' Us in 2005.
We also purchased the rails to convert it to a full sized bed. It did not come with instructions but I can explain to you how to put it together.

The rail conversion set should come with 2 pieces of wood that act as the bed frame. You do not need to purchase the extended frame. The set should also come with 4 long screws, the hex tool to tighten it and 4 metal pieces. You might also have some wood nail cover plugs.

Once you've taken apart your crib, the only pieces that you will need are the 2 longer pieces of the crib...the headboard and the footboard. The 2 shorter side pieces which served as a headboard and footboard as a crib and the metal grate to hold up the mattress can be put into storage.

On the sides of each of the new wood rails, you will see a circle indent on each end with a hole. You will insert one of the long screws into each and then insert it into the head board. You must use the special tool to screw/ tighten it in. The metal flat pieces can be inserted into it the circle befor eyou are done tightning so that it does not strip or damage the end of the circle. You do this with the other rail on the other end and then add the footboard using the same process. If you would like, I can send you a copy of what this looks like close up. ( the cricle indent with screws. The bed is extremely strong. We've all napt in it as a family along with our 2 large dogs. I highly recommend ordering the extra long/ tall bed rails from OneStepAhead for security because my son has rolled out of the bed and it is super tall!

Pottery Barn Sleigh Crib Assembly Instructions

We recently put together a PBKids sleigh crib bought on craigslist. the original owner gave us all the old bolts. We actually put the side that DOESN'T say "push" on first. When attaching the "push" side - the one thing we figured out is that you have to fit that side UNDER the rails that are visible on the sides and then pull UP (rather than going down, you have to pull up to fit it in.) that said, the original owner did not give us any bolts/stops to put in the sides that would keep the rail from falling completely to the floor when you push the drop side in. anyone else have suggestions?

Missing parts

You should be able to take those pieces out of the bottom ends of the crib rail bother than that I'm not sure I have been looking for the plastic pieces for the top of the rail that you squeeze together to lower the side and I called the company and they said they don't carry any parts for this crib anymore. I wish we could all get these cribs together and switch pieces that we need to make at least some of these cribs work its pretty bad. Oh well I hope this helps you.

Missing pieces

This is from Bassett's website.

Bassett recommends that all cribs manufactured prior to 1972 be replaced because improved safety features were instituted that year. If your crib was made in 1972 or after, replacement parts are available from Products America at 1-800-772-1041. If you are unsure when your Bassett crib was made, Bassett urges you to replace it.
