I have code of PO2 with the alarm light flashing on and off. When I change the cartridge, a 17 to 20 inch long plastic strip with a small spring like metal on one end of it came out of the inside of the printer. Please I need your assistant?

Canon pixar MG3122 po2 error code with light flashing

I recently had this error (P02) and found it to be a simple fix. If you open the front where the cartridge runs you will see a clear flat strip that runs from side to side. This strip reads where the cartridge carrier is. If this strip gets dirty the printer will read as a paper jam. There is an area just below that strip that has grease on it. In my case, I accidently touched the two while moving the carrier to replace the ink cartridges. This put grease on the flat clear strip. Once it was clean my printer started working again. The easiest way to clean the strip without taking your printer apart is to use a Q-tip and clean with gentle strokes from side to side.

I really hope that I have helped at least one person with this post!

I have a lexmark x4650 printer and my son pulled a plastic strip from some where. Now my printer tells me that the cartrige is jam. When I opened it there was a small spring that I have no idea where it...

The "plastic strip" could be the encoder strip (responsible for the movement of the cartridge carrier on the assembly). This article will give you an idea on how to re-seat the encoder strip on your printer: Printer Cartridge Stalls or Is Blocked.

What do I do to resolve Error 5100?

open the printer so you can see the cartridges, if you look what the cartridge is sitting on that is called the cartridge harness, right behind the harness and it runs right through it is a thin code strip, this strip is about a quarter of an inch wide and runs the length of the printer and now you need a small bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol and a couple of Q tips, now bend the Q tip at the end to 90 degree's and now dip the Q tip into the alcohol, and clean the plastic code strip, be real carefull not to break this or you will be e mailing me like crazy, do the whole strip front and back, move the harness to get it all, when that's done realign the printhead, go to start, to control panel, right click on the printer icon and go to properties, to maintenence to print head alignment and do that, hope this helped and good luck.

Blue light flash cartrige bangs one end to other then light flashes still, all clear have cheaked

Please follow the instructions given below:

1. Disconnect the USB cable and the printer power cable.
2. Please disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
3. Then remove the cartridges from the printer.
4. Please reconnect the power supply back and turn on the printer.
5. If lights are blinking then printer encoder strip is most likely the problem. Unplug the power from the printer. Open the front cover and move the cartridge carrier to the center. You should see a white ribbon cable, a thin plastic strip and a black belt with teeth.
6. The thin plastic strip is the encoder strip. It rides in a sensor on the back of the cartridge carrier that you will not be able to see. Reach in with the first finger of either hand and carefully strum the strip as if playing a guitar.
7. The strip will need to be lowered slightly and brought towards you slightly. Please be careful not to break the strip or your printer will not function. Once you believe the strip is set correctly, plug the power back and let us know if the lights are still blinking.
8. If you cannot repair the strip, please let us know so that we can assist you further.
Please Note: Fixing the encoder strip is a delicate procedure. During the troubleshooting, if the strip breaks, you will not be able to use the printer.
9. However, if lights are not blinking then try inserting one cartridge at a time and check if you can see any lights blinking. If light blinks with one cartridge then that cartridge is defective.

I have an hp deskjet 3940 printer and the power light keeps flashing; moreover; the moment I turn on my pc, the inkcartridges slam from left to right.

There is a plastic strip that the cartridges move along with small positioning markings on it. When this strip gets coated with ink the sensors cannot read the position causing the cartridges to go beyond the end mark and slam. Unplug the printer power and open it to access the cartridges, use a cloth damp with water and clean this strip - BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE OR DISCONNECT IT!

We have a hp deskjet f4140 printer that had a paper jam. My wife pulled the paper out of it, and it is acting crazy now. It told me that it was low on black ink, so I replaced the cartridge with a new hp...

Does the carriage move and home out when you power up the printer? If not, look inside the cavity where the carriage assembly is and look for a skinny little piece of plastic, it should be anchored on either side of the printer frame with a small spring on one side. it should go thru the carridge assy. This is the encoder strip. The carriage uses it for reference when it moves. If this strip has been knocked out of position the machine almost immediately signals an error, (attention light flashes). If this is the case, then the challenge is to A-find the spring and B-reattach the encoder strip. Good luck.

MY cartridge went haywire today

on the left side inside the chassi there is a small hole with a little metalpart sticking up (about 0.5cm high). On the piece where the inc cartrigde is there is a vertical hole you can see the hole easiest from the left side (about 1cm high). On the right side there should be a 2cm metallic part sticking up from the bottom.

You will probably have to bend one of the parts to get the plastic strip on place, just make sure that once you get it on place to bend them back so that the strip doesn't fall off again.

in my case the metallic parts where bent like: \ (left) and | (right) I had to bend them | and | to get the strip on place and then bend them \ and /. Not sure if the right part should be / or | though.

Printer not working

On this printer, the alarm and data lights mean that the toner cartridge is empty. When you replace the toner, be sure to slide the corona wire cleaner across and back. This is the small light blue plastic piece on top of the drum cartridge. You'll see a small arrow in the plastic. Just slide it back and forth once or twice each time you replace the toner cartridge.
