you want to be looking for the rtc(real time clock) which is a little unit not much bigger than ur thumb nail.next to it youll find the battery(sometimes heat sealed with plastic.)if you remove this battery for about 5 mins then replace it or in ur case maybe renew it this will reset bios to factory(also method for bypass passwords as every thing is reset)
you might also wanna check ur video card.(connections and dust)

SOURCE: SONY VAIO CMOS BATTERY LOCATION

Correction...

The CMOS battery is located under the system board, and is not accessible from under the keyboard.

The keyboard has to be removed in order to change the CMOS batter, (another reason why I don't like Sony laptops.)

Below is the batter I just pulled from a user's VGN-FS660\W 892cbd5.jpg

SOURCE: DIP SWITCH BIOS RESET POSITIONS SONY VAIO VGN-fs660

Hello,
There are 2 ways you can reset your bios2_bing.gif.

1. On the motherboard there is a small watch battery. Remove this battery along with the power cable from the power supply. Hold down the power button to fully discharge the system. Wait 2-3 minutes then reinstall the battery and plug in2_bing.gif your system. Your reset is now complete

2. Some motherboards have a 3 pin jumper by the battery. Lets say that the jumper is on pins 2 and 3. Remove the jumper while the machine is OFF and place onto pins 1 and 2. Power on your machine for a minute. (Note: Your system will not POST). Shutdown your machine and put the jumper back to pins 2 and 3. Your reset is now complete

This is a great troubleshooting2_bing.gif step for those of you having POST issues or no POSTing at all. Like other troubleshooting steps, this will not always work but usually will depending on the problem.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

HDD PASSWORD

Pulling the battery out will NOT solve anything.
On bios it should say;
"If you lock your Hard Drive with a password, you will not be able to access it even if you put it in another Computer"

No disk drive???

Check HDD in the bios.
Restart Laptop and keep ressing F2. In the bios screen you will see HDD or Primary IDE and value next to that representing it's size. If that is not detected in the bios you need to replace HDD

Error message Non system disk error replace and strike any key wh

Hi !

This error means either there is no disk (or disconnected/wrong connected) or your HDD is gone (which I don't believe) !

I can't find a reason why you pulled out your HDD when it was (I assume) working good before ?!?

Anyway, . . .now, please check carefully the connectors - both sides, to the HDD and to the Board(if any), if they are properly fit!
It is an IDE disk and there are two groups pins on the HDD. Check the pins if they are all going to plastic male connector (and then to the board.
A group of 4 or 6 pins on HDD should not be connected. There is one pin missing in (about) middle of the second row of pins - it is o.k.

Put your ear close on the chasis of laptop and find if there is a spinning noise when you turn your laptop on.

If there you can hear noise, then check in BIOS if your HDD exists.

If not, try to check it on another Laptop/PC.
Regards.

PXE-E61 Media test Failure

hy i have your solution.its simple. the problem is remote network data entry that start in the bios systems, produce by a virus call downloader.trojan or bootable Tj.exe, normally the bios has to read it and it gives the error " media test faliurecheck cables",ir you dont repaired quickly your laptop or desktop eventually will not boot the windows att all, this have to be kill before that happens, First of all clean your pc with Trojan Remover and then do just a simple task restart your desktop or laptop and do not let it initiate windows just press F2 at the bios and go to the Bios program and then go to the tab name Bios and press F9 that means "default bios systems" and everything will change in your bios and when your desktop or pc restart it will never show that message again and your bios will initiate with no problems and the virus that put that into your pc will no longer control your bios system.
